Quick DAS question

This past weekend, we had to give info all over again (Card got left at home), there was not a way to "look up" the info.
Thanks.
I had heard CMs were telling people that would happen if the card was lost, but yours is the first confirmation I've seen that it actually is true.

I would call or e-mail Disney and tell them about your experience, since they are not supposed to require documentation. Make sure that you get the name of the person you talk to at Disney.
Looking back at it now, I wish I had. It was at California adventure not Disneyland and when I walked in I had no idea the system had changed so I was not geared for a fight. Typically I just let them know the chance of me having a seizure at there park was about 75% and I would really not like to be 45 mins deep into a weaving line with no way out when it happened. I also did not have my Service dog with me as it was my wedding trip, maybe that had something to do with it. Now that I have my card and I know the new system things will be different.

To be honest I don't much like the new system with my condition. I liked it better when we could go in the exit not the fast pass line as the exit area typically had something I could sit on or get to quickly if my dog alerts, 30 mins deep into a fast pass line is no different then a typical line as my problem is not the wait time but where I am if something goes bad. This is my DAS from June, it was a 2 day trip and I used it 3 times. For the most part I just opted not no go on rides because of the change in the system :sad1:

This will probably sound dumb, but perhaps when the new DAS is issued, try taking a close up of the QR code on your smart phone? I know that I can redeem electronic gift cards with QR codes by having them scanned at the checkout...it might be worth a try to have it on the phone, and if the CM is able to scan it, you could provide ID to prove the names match. It might be worth a try, just in case it's left at home or lost.

I just did this about 2 weeks ago. I left my DAS sitting on my desk and had my mom send me pictures of the card with both the QR code and my picture. I showed the pictures to a cast member at Epcot and he was able to scan the QR code picture and pull up my info that way. He didn't inititially think it would work and we were both surpised at how easy it did work. I would recommend taking pictures after getting a new card since is possible to scan a phone picture, just takes a few trys to size the picture correctly to the scanner.

This is a great idea, because I have an AP and are here for long periods, they reissued my DAS for 2 months. I am paranoid about loosing it or getting it wet :X I'll try scanning it!

Good hint :thumbsup2

Having the picture of you is probably important to so they can see you are the person the DAS was issued to before scanning it.

It would be no different than saving an image of a store coupon you got in an email to your phone. As long as the code is clear, they can read it.

Thanks.

I can provide a second confirmation. :)

We lost my daughter's DAS last week at MK. I inquired about replacing it, and after getting a LOT of attitude from the CM about how we're not supposed to lose things like that, he agreed to replace it. I started to give him our info and inform him that my daughter's name was misspelled on the old card so he could look it up properly and he informed me that they kept no records of old cards and had to start from scratch. I know that's not quite true since they reuse pictures a lot of times, but I didn't feel like getting into it with him.

Sorry you had that experience. Radiator Springs Racers is popular and new so the FP line can get a little long at the beginning and end of FP return times. I can see how the switchback kind of line could be unsettling for you.

I suggest knowing the FP return times for the attraction you have a return time for and don't go at the beginning or the end of that hour. Also, always have a return time in the works. If you are taking a break for lunch, get a return time before you head off to lunch. If you have a FP, also get a return time for another attraction. Yes, it does take some more planning, but, it is very doable.

If you get to an attrition with a long FP line (never more than 20 minutes for us) and it is long, come back when it isn't so long. That is the beauty of DAS card return times.

That has not been our experience at all. With the combination of DAS card return times and FP, we have been able to do all that we wanted. We have NEVER had to wait 30 minutes in a FP line or an exit (exits are common in DL as many rides don't have FP). Our last day we went on Buzz Lightyear, Jungle Cruise, Indiana Jones, Splash Mountain, Tower of Terror, and Little Mermaid. We had a snack break and lunch. We also stood in line for pictures with Mickey at Town Square and had an awesome CM who took pictures in front of the castle. We arrived at opening and left the park at 3pm. We had Fps for Splash Mountain, Indiana Jones and Tower of Terror and DAS return times for the others. Indiana Jones did break down while we were in line and we waited about 30 minutes for that.
