Questions before I book our January trip

I'm hoping to book in the next couple days for late January. We've never stayed on property so this will be a first for my entire family. I have some questions:

- I was thinking of booking through Costco for the free character meal. Any experiences booking with them? Will I find a better deal elsewhere or if I wait? Does it count toward the 2% back on the executive card?

- I think we decided on PPH after reading reviews and checking prices. Should I call to book our trip, or is ok to just book online? Any special perks either way?

- I know I want at least Park view and I'm considering concierge. Should I book standard and ask for an upgrade? Or should I just pay up front for a park view?

Thanks all!!!

If the type of room is important to you, then book it in advance. From what I've read on here from others, your chances aren't very high of getting free upgrades when you check-in.

Thanks for that tip. I was worried about missing out on somethign we really wanted if I was hoping for upgrades. I don't mind paying for the upgrade but would hate to have nothing available.

We booked our last trip through Costco and it went fine. Basically when you book through Costco, you go to a special group of CMs at WDTravel. I had no problems booking through them and the free character meal was a great deal.
