Questions about the new $10 per person charge for ADR's

We haven't been since the new $10 per person charge on ADR's if we don't show for the reservation. We'll be making several reservations at our 180 mark in a few weeks in hopes that we get Free Dining w/our stay in November.

If we aren't able to make our reservation (we will be making one on our Universal day for example, and hope we don't get caught up there), how late can we cancel it w/o loosing our $10 per person?

Also, are there restaurants that take our credit card information already, even though we'll be (hopefully) using the dining plan to pay for them? If so, do we just tell the server at the restaurant and they'll use the dining credits not the credit card?

Do ALL table services have the $10 per person charge for reservations now?

TIA

Here's a link to the list of restaurants that have a cc/no show guarantee:. Basiacally dinner shows, restaurants with character meals and signature restaurants:

And here's a link to the Disney dining FAQs which address the questions about the cc guarantee - they are at the end of the FAQs:

According to the FAQ, you have to cancel the day before so you'll be charged if you stay late at Universal and skip the meal without cancelling the day before. It's better to make a res at a restaurant without the cc guarantee if you think you might not be able to make the res so that you can cancel at the last minute without penalty.

The CC on record will only be charged if you fail to cancel the res within the required time frame and then don't show up at the restaurant. Once you're at the restaurant you can pay with dining credits or a different cc if you wish.

It is my family's first visit and I made ADR for every night. Only a few of them asked for my credit card. We are only using one TS credit so that might be part of the reason. I would just make sure on nights that you can be sure of your timing you just pick a restaurant that does not require the credit card. I have also changed my reservations a couple of times without any problems.

The dining plan is not relevant. The list of restaurants has been linked to. Anyone booking a reservation at any of the listed restaurants will need to give a credit card number for a guarantee. At any restaurant EXCEPT the prepaid ones (CRT or dinner shows) the credit card is ONLY for the no-show fee. You can pay for the meal any way you want, that card will only be charged if you don't show up.

If you are looking for a meal you can cancel the same day, pick a restaurant that is NOT on the credit card guarantee list.

I'll also add that there is still some question as to how late one can cancel and avoid the no-show charge.

We have seen in writing two different policies - one that requires canceling by close of business the day before the reservation - Monday night for a Tuesday meal - and another that says close of business **one full day** before the reservation, which would mean Monday night for a *Wednesday* reservation.

Since the former (less restrictive) policy is still posted on the Disney web site, I would think you could easily make a case for a refund if you met that condition but were still charged because you didn't meet the more restrictive one.

Folks have also been told other things over the phone, but the only policy that matters is one that appears in writing via some official Disney source.

If you want to follow the Monday night for a Tuesday meal policy, try printing out the part of the DCL website where that policy is in writing. Then if they try to charge you for cancelling, you can have that on you to show Guest Services.

Can you give the link to the close of business day one? Thanks!

Have we heard from anyone who has actually been charged?

on the credit card hold - do they actually charge anything to your card when you make the reservation? Or is it only when you are a no-show?

It depends on your bank. Some banks process Disney's check to make sure your CC is valid as a $1 charge that gets refunded, other banks never have it show up on your statement at all.
