Ok. Here is my question. Due to a pulled muscle in my foot I am unable to walk long distances without a great deal of pain. I have a hard time even walking from my bedroom to the bathroom without feeling the pain.

So my question is this. How much does it cost to rent an ECV? I know that when we went ti Disney and rented one for a friend they were $40 and you got back a $10 deposit. Is it the same at Universal?

Also we have annual passes. I know we get discounts on other things in the park. Does this apply to the ECV's also?

We are going to Universal for 3 days next weekend. Does anyone know the answer to this? I appreciate any and all answers to this!!

The ECV rentals are on a first come first serve basis and are $40 for the day with a $50 refundable deposit, CC or cash. Sorry, I was told there was no AP discount... :(

Have fun next weekend!

Michelle,

We just got back from a long weekend trip to Universal where we
rented an ECV for the first time. My husband had foot surgery in
late December and couldn't walk long distances. Instead of
renting the park ECV's and taking the chance on not getting one
we rented from a company called Walker Mobility. Their website is
http://www.walkermobility.com/home.html

If you're having difficulty with even short distances, this could be
the answer for you. They deliver the scooter right to your hotel.
It disassembles easily and can be put in your car. It cost us
$30.00 a day, which is comparable to what you'd pay at the parks
but with the convenience of having it with you for other activities.
We used it at City Walk and the DVM, for example.

I would give a good recommendation to Walker. We did have a
scooter breakdown while we were at IOA, but they handled it
immediately. I called them at 9:15 a.m. to tell them that the
scooter wouldn't work and they brought a brand new scooter to
us inside the park at 9:45 a.m! I thought that was amazing.

If you check the DISabilities forum, you'll find info on other
companies that rent ECV's also so you can compare but Walker
was very good.

Good luck!

Lisa

I wanted to second the recommendation for Walker Mobility.

My mother has had cancer recur eight times in the last seven years. The treatments have kept her with us, thank goodness, but have damaged her heart, lungs and the nerves in her legs. She could not travel with us without the ECV. We have used Walker in Orlando three times and they have always made it SO easy!

So, if you see a women who looks like she doesn't need an ECV--but who's a REALLY bad driver--you'll know that it's us! :p

Ok... I decided after hearing all the recomendations to call Walker. Bob was very friendly and helpful. I decided to go with the bigger model. He explained that it is a little bigger, and the seat has more padding. He also said the battery is bigger and will last longer.

He was very patient with me. Explained that they will drop it off Thursday. Since we are arriving late Thursday night. Then after we go to the parks on Sunday we can drop it off at the hotel.

:D :D :) :) :) :) :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Have fun, SheDaisy!

I toured the park with maepartner and her sister and they both had ECVs. They're so easy to maneuver and "drive". The best part is you can keep all your stuff in the baskets!

Michelle,
One other suggestion--pay the extra ten dollars (total, it's not per day) to rent the charging harness from Walker. This allows you to leave the scooter body in your car and take only the
batteries into your hotel with you. Then you charge the batteries
in your hotel room. It makes things simpler. At least it did for us.

Secondly, my husband, who is a big guy at around 270 lbs., fit
just fine in the smaller scooter. We had no problem with battery
life. We got to the parks at opening, left at closing time and even
used it at CityWalk and still had half power on the ECV. Unless
it's a necessity, I'd stick with the smaller, less expensive scooter
and pay the extra $10.00 just for the harness. Just my 2 cents.

Good luck and have fun!
