We are currently booked at BWV for our upcoming vacation...however I am thinking of switching to a Mod.

Although we loved :lovestruc CSR on our last trip I am thinking about booking @ Port Orleans Riverside just to change things up.

How far time wise is Port Orleans from Epcot?

Does anyone happen to have photos of the King Bedrooms?

Any advice or comments about Port Orleans Riverside would be great....thanks in advance. :goodvibes

My GF and I stayed at POR last Oct. And were first given a king room . It was lovely and spacious but was not what we asked for. Being 2 older single females we had no desire to share a bed so we asked that they put us in a room with 2 bed. I think a room in the Mansions would suite well. I actually stayed at the Swan a couple of years back and liked POR much better!!!

I have stayed there many times and loved it! We have stayed at most the the propertys and we love the grounds at POR. The pool and food court are great. The rooms to me are fine for 2 adults and the Plantation area is my personal favorite. My family has grown and teens and tweens require us to get the 2 bedroom villas today but if it was just my self and hubbie I would go back to riverside. Hope this helps.

I will be staying there in 10 days ! I can let you know what we think of the resort, I am looking forward to it.

We have been to Disney 3 times and stayed at POR all 3 times. The grounds are beautiful and the food court is spacious with choices for everyone. We have always had to have the 2 beds, so cant answer about the king size. We enjoy the fridge. Nice to take snacks the kids can enjoy in the room and to leave leftovers in for later. I think Epcot is the closest park the best I can remember....our last trip was spring break of 2009. I am itching to go back, but am restraining myself, lol. I have a son in college and it is expensive, so the mouse is on hold for now.

We just got back from our first stay at POR & although we did not stay in a king room, I can tell you that we loved the resort overall. We were in Magnolia Bend (mansions) in a corner room that overlooked a lush court yard...it was so quiet & serene. The resort as a whole is beautiful and very well themed. We were just over a bridge from the main swimming pool, Ol' Man Island, and a few steps beyond that was the food court, Riverside Mill, & the lobby. We were quite impressed with the CS food at the mill, especially the breakfast. We ate there most mornings before heading out to the parks.

It is a big resort, though, & you will share bus service with French Quarter, so just keep this in mind if you plan to utilize WDW busses. Our building was closest to the the East Depot, but it was the last stop on the bus route, so we were always last on/last off. Kind of a pain with a 3 year old and a stroller. So we just usually walked up to the main bus depot in the morning when we were heading out (the busses still go to French Quarter first) and got off at ours in the evening. No biggie. But glad we figured it out early on in the trip.:thumbsup2

I think you'll like it there. We were plesantly surprised ourselves.

You should check out AllEarsnet.com to see resort photos. They have pictures of the King rooms. As another poster already stated, there is a thread here that is devoted to POR. It has photos too!

The king rooms are nice; I got it once on my trip, because I usually travel alone. They are corner rooms, so you get two windows. However, they are a preferred room and you have to request it; they cannot always accommodate you, because about 25% of them are handicapped accessible.

I have stayed at POR several times and it is now my home resort. I actually had a chance last year to change it up a bit and upgraded to SSR with the 4/3 deal. I thought I would have the same amentities I loved about POR, being in the same area, but it lacked the wonderful food court that POR has, etc. I just really missed it. As a matter of fact, a couple of mornings, I took a taxi down to POR, had breakfast and then took the bus to the parks from there.

You won't be disappointed.

POR is awesome!! We love it there. We usually stay in the mansions section at Parterre Place. This is the most relaxing resort for us! We love the boatride to DTD (and smelling the awesome BBQ at HOB on the way) and just waking up to the riverboats going by in front of our room is just great! We love it so much, I chose it for my 40th b-day visit :)

POR is close to EPCOT. It wouldn't take but a very few minutes if you were driving it or by bus. That's actually the closest park to POR.

Have a great time!!

Thanks for your help guys....:goodvibes

I went ahead and changed our resort to Port Orleans Riverside. The extra space at the BWV would have been nice but switching is going to save us a bunch. I even went ahead and book an additional night to make myself feel better. ;)

The pictures of Port Orleans all look great...I hope it is as awesome as it looks. If anyone has anything great to say about POR I would love to hear it! :cheer2:
