It's official -- we leave for WDW on Nov. 4 :bounce: !! We'll stay at VWL our first seven nites, but for the last nite, they were full. We have a studio reserved @ OKW (which I think I may try to change to a 1 b.r. for a treat).

Assuming some of you have been to the World at this time of year, what can we expect? I was surprised that VWL was completely full our last night, so I'm assuming the crowds are bad? And what about temps.? Will it be a bit warm or cool?

Actually, the crowds won't be all that bad - it's the bargain points that attract the DVCers, which doesn't have that much impact on park attendance.

Weather? I think you'll find it pleasant; probably not "sweater weather," but long sleeves in the evening might be appropriate.

Of course, you're still in hurricane season, and if one of those bad boys (or girls) decides to show up, you could get wet!

We've gone the last 11 yrs. in November and we love it. I have to say we go because it's Jersey week(school is out). We're going Nov. 1st this year too. The weather is warm 76-85, a sweatshirt in evenings a maybe, and hardly ever a steady rain. We've had 8 trips with no rain and 3 with. The 3 with was one night of rain from 9pm-through night, with next morning perfect. The other year we had a torrential rain from 3-6pm (luau not cancelled) on one day, kids swam in it and the weather was perfect again for the luau...actually hot. The last trip we had rain one day...all day but we used the ponchos and it was still very steamy. I thought it would ruin the day but it didn't and we never had rain again that trip.
As for the crowds, I'd say that most attractions are a 10-15min . wait with major attractions being 25-30min. If you use fast pass for the big ones, you have very little wait on any attraction. hAVE FUN...SEE YA THERE!:thewave:

You made your reservation just 4 months out!! You were lucky to get what you have at that short time period. The parks are not crowded that time of year. Remember WLV is a small resort, next time make your reservations at 11 months out, you will fair better.

While one can't predict the weather I think you'll find the weather in early November will be very nice. For the past few years we've gone anywhere from late September to mid November and with one exception the weather was very pleasant and not once was it cold.

This fall we are going in mid October.

We also go in March and April (but not Spring Break) and find the weather very nice at that time of year as well.

Soap OPera weekend is generally the weekend following Veterans' Day - that maybe why that weekend is busy as well.

We also love November - a great time to go - avoid the Magic Kingdom on Sat during Soap Opera time - learned that one the hard way!!

We are headed in October this year and taking the extended family on hubby's side - it's already proving interesting!!

Have a great trip,
Annette

Thanks for the info, everyone! I usually DO make ressies 11 months out. This trip is a surprise -- DH has a conference he wasn't planning on attending, but he changed his mind! I wasn't surprised that I ran into a glitch, but as far as I'm concerned, it's a minor one......

just my 2 cents worth, if rain happens go to the park with ponchos. the lines are almost " walk up and go on in". We've been a few times in Nov. usually wk 2. Epcolt usually has a wine and food festival somewhere in that time frame.( just in case you're interested.)
I agree with others the weather temps are usually perfect. low humidity mid 70 to mid 80. If your coming from up north (perhaps New England area.) you'll be able to swim mid 60s even feel warm to us that time of year.LOL
I will mention that when we had a few days of rain (we did the parks anyway) the first sunny day we had the crowds seemed huge. Maybe that was just because we were used to short lines on the rainy days, or maybe everone waited for the sun to come out to do the parks I'm really not sure.
Good luck and enjoy the vacation!!!!

The Food and Wine Festival at EPCOT runs through November 14 this year.

I believe the F&W fest will still be going on - till Nov 15th ???

I've never needed more the shorts & tee shirt in Nov ( but I hate any temp above 62F) but my reptile-like DW gets chilly in the evenings, ( but that also applys Oct & Dec..... and Feb... and May,June & July....... ).

I think "till November 15" and "through November 14th" means the same thing Viking. I read that it was scheduled for 45 days this year. 31 in October and 14 in November, so November 14 should be the last day but I could be wrong.

.... I wasn't trying to correct your post with mine. When I started typing my post, yours wasn't there, you just hit the "Submit reply" quicker then I did. Your 14th is probably more acurate then my 15th.....I wasn't sure when F&W ended.

We've only done the first week in November only once, and it was last year -- "unseasonably warm" the entire week. Kept waiting for the cold front to move in and it never did. It was ~85 every day, but not nearly as humid as August and September, so we enjoyed it a lot. There were frequent predictions of possible rain, and some overcast skys, but almost no rain.

Crowds increased by the end of that week, reportedly because so many New Jersey people were there during some annual school closing.

We'd definitely go again in early November.

Looks like I've got to get educated on the Food & Wine Festival. Luckily, I know right where to go for the answers to my questions ;) !

As for temps. in November -- sounds like it'll be warmer in Orlando in November than it was in Central MA today. Now THAT'S something to look forward to!

You know, weather is so unpredictable in Florida (just like here in Texas). I went in late September two years ago and a cool front moved through - high's in the upper 70's lows in the low 60's. Usually September is still pretty hot so we didn't pack cool weather clothes. Then five years ago we went in late October and a cold front moved through, highs in the 50's-60's if I remember correctly, usually October is fairly warm to moderate, so we froze on that trip. Then we went to WDW in early December 2001 and the temperatures were low 80's to high 70's, so all I can tell you is pack for both types of weather because buying Disney winter clothing while you are there can be pricey.

Have a wonderful time!

I went to Disney mid November for 10 days last year. Weather was perfect for the majority of the trip. What is my version of perfect you say, well that would be a nice sunny day at about 74 to 77 degrees which I can honestly say was 6 of the 10 days. Two days had a brief cool front droping temps to about 68/70. One morning out of 10 had a thunderstorm that lasted about 3 to 4 hours (I was walking around MGM at the time) and the rain would get heavy then slack off and finally stopped. The next day it sprinkled for about 2 hours and that was the last of the rain. One day of the trip reached about 81 and I sweated just a little bit.

The weekend that you have booked is the last weekend of the F&W festival and also the Soap Opera weekend. I know as I just rented points to stay at the BWV for that week and got one of th last studios available. That weekend will be crowded but it should still be manageable. Personally, I use to go in December after Thanksgiving but last year enjoyed this time of year so better that I am returning in November again. As stated in post above most waits are 10/15 minutes, walkons or more popular rides have 30 minutes later in day (usually afternoon). Enjoy.
