First and foremost can we wear our jammies:rotfl2: J/k But really though lets say we go to bed do we need to get all fancy ? Can we just throw on some shorts and top or is this dressy. Believe you me I will dress dressy if need be.

What time should we start lining up? Do we sit at tables and get called up or is it a free for all?

Just want to be prepared!!:woohoo:

If you want to be one of the first ones in and/or get lots of pictures it might not be a bad idea to get there a bit early.
I actually thought a lot of the goodies looked better than they tasted, so the pics might not be a bad idea. I wish we had brought our camera, but of course it was sitting in the stateroom. :rolleyes1

You line up, are brought into the dining room to fill your plate, then you are seated at a table. IIRC everyone at our table was pretty dressed up, but I honestly don't remember what the majority of folks were wearing.

Anyway, I'll give you a little bump and hopefully someone will come along with more info for you.

No need to dress up. We were on the NYE cruise and were directed to a table but then we all got up to make our selections.

Not that I'm a HUGE dessert person, I found the desert buffet selections "so-so" and MUCH preferred the deserts that accompanied dinner and we would often take an additional dessert to go for our own midnight buffet :thumbsup2 . Creme brule....ahhhh

On first cruise with Midnight desserts I did turn up in jammies and no one batted an eye lid. May as well be comfortable right? Mind you on last cruise turned up to premier of Pirates of the Caribbean 3 in my jammies too at midnight and there actually were loads of people who were still dressed which I found odd. lol Wear what you're comfortable in

We totally didn't even realize it was midnight buffet and just happened to be walking by and asked what the huge line was for. LOL
We didn't do the midnight buffet (opted instead for the delicious desserts they have at table areas in sections all over the place and down the "hall" type area to the nightclubs) but I saw the line- no one was dressed fancy that I saw. It appeared everyone was just wearing either their "not too formal" dinner clothing or their day clothing (not swimsuits or anything like that though).
And it was a long line and a LOT of people. No one was dressed all fancy that I saw.

Well first the midnight buffet is usually at 11 pm!

They are pretty flexible about seating. We we've been on our last two long cruises (December 04 and May 06) our DIS group just got a bunch of tables in the corner. A number of the DISers brought wine (Banfi being the favorite) and just asked the servers for some wine glasses. It was fun to just relax with friends. Totally casual. No dressing up for this event.

Last cruise the line started at 10.45pm, and people dressed as they wished, it had been a semi formal night so many people hadnt changed but lots of people were 'casual' and some kids in their night clothes!

Go comfy. We were on DCL for the midnight premier of POCII and ds6 and I wore pj's and dh wore shorts.

You can dress as you like no problem.

This underscores the Disney difference, on almost any other line everyone would just be getting warmed up at midnight, on Disney they are getting out of bed to go the the midnight buffet!!!
