Questions about buying points

Ihave been to disney several times and I am planning a trip for september 2007,and Inever knew about buying points. Iwould like to know how it works,canIbuy park hopper tickets w/dinning,and can I still use Disney transportation from the airport to the hotel? thanks for any help.

I think you are talking about renting a reservation from a DVC member. They own the points and make a reservation for you using their points. You pay them for the cost of the reservation, usually $10-15 per point used.

If you want Sept 07, now is a good time to be looking for a member to make that reservation for you. You'll need to read all the Stickies at the top of the Rent/Trade board to find out what to do.

Then post your request on that board with your dates and what type of villa you need - plus the location you desire most. Then wait for a member to contact you with the answer to your request. You are working directly with the owner of the points, so Disney is not involved in any way. They have complete control over the reservation until the moment you check into the resort. They set the rules for when payment is required and the form of payment they accept. Make sure you get a written contract.

In answer to you ticket and dining questions...yes, you can get dining, be sure the person you rent from knows you want it, as it must be linked into yr ressie....you'll pay for the dining plan when you arrive at the resort.

With DVC, there is no specific ticket requirement to purchase the dining plan, you may purchase park tickets from any authorized reseller you wish, or purchase them when you arrive at the resort.

You can also use Magical Express to/from the airport...again, the arrangements must be made through the owner you rent the ressie from.

What do you mean by "buying points"? If you are talking about buying into DVC, you need to go through either a DVC timeshare guide or a timeshare resaler like the one advertised at the top of this page.

If you are talking about renting a reservation, you need to go to the rent trade board here on the DIS and read the FAQ's before posting your needs.

Just remember that if you are renting, you will have less flexibility than you will if you reserve from CRO. The owner of the points is not a travel agent, but is renting out their right to use a specific reservation. You WILL be able to use DME from the airport, and you will be able to get admission media from any source; Disney or otherwise. Ticket media will NOT come with the room, because, as noted, the owner is not a travel agency. You can also get the Disney Dining Plan, but need to reserve that ahead of time, and pay for it at time of check-in.
