Our family will be staying at AKL for the first time in Oct. and we're really excited!! If anyone could help with some questions we have, I'd really appreciate it!

1) What time do they do the storytelling? Is it the same time every night or does it change?

2) Do they serve meals/snacks at the pool bar or just drinks?

3) We are going to eat dinner at Boma-is there anything we *have* to try? (besides zebra domes :) ~ we'll be trying them for sure!)

TIA,

~Melissa

Hi we just returned from our 1st trip to the AKL and WDW and it was awesome. You are going to love AKL, the atmosphere is totally undescribable. Anyway I did not go to the storytelling but I want to say it is around 7:30 every night. There is a small board posted to the right of the bellman's desk that lists the lodge activities and times. I am not sure the age of your children but it looked like they had some interesting things for school age kids. My toddlers did the cookie decorating but really you just got a cookie and decorated it they enjoyed it but really no big deal.

The pool bar does not serve food but Mara is right next to the pool and we just carried our breakfast to a pool area table one morning, totally awesome one of the best and most relaxing meals we had.

Boma was our last meal at Disney and I ranked it as my second fav after Emeril's Tchoup Tchoup which was great 5 star food. Anyway my favorites from the buffet were the different flavors of hummus I could have eaten the hummus, salad and dessert and left totally happy. I was especially partial to the olive hummus but all flavors were great. There was a seafood chowder with a coconut curry( I think) broth that was great and the plantain corn salad was delish! I also totally pigged on the desserts, and they were all great. Have a wonderful trip!

Oh my, you are going to love Animal Kingdom Lodge. The food at Boma's is fabulous. Try all the different soups; they are excellent. We are staying at the Polynesian in September, but will definitely go to AKL for Boma's.
Have a wonderful trip.

The soups at Boma are wonderful. My favorite is the tomato one. Yum! I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. Also, the sauces for the meats are wonderful, too. There was a barbeque one that was incredible. I've never tasted anything quite like it since.

Enjoy your AKL stay. I adore, adore, adore that resort!

When we have been there, storytime has been at 6:30, so it might change with the time change or something.

You will totally love it! I cannot wait to go back!:D

The sauces for the prime rib...the field greens with the different dressings...ALL the desserts...the list is endless. Boma is hands-down my favorite restaurant at WDW.
We will be there in December and I can't wait. The subtle music, the scent in the lobby, the fireplace, and just the atmosphere in general make AKL such a special place.

You must try the Cocomisu which is coconut tiramisu! Wonderful and it is so good, it ought to be a sin. Also, the banana bread pudding with vanilla cream sauce. Yum. As a previous poster said, you must try the sauces for the prime rib --be daring. They are great.
