Question....Why do so many people hate the All Star Resorts?

I don't hate them. We have stayed at Sports three times! And we will go back there also.

We have also stayed at Pop once, and have reservations for a 2nd stay.

We prefer Pop over All Star for a few reasons. Pop is newer, and just a bit fresher. The food court is a bit nicer at Pop, and the rooms are laid out slightly different at Pop. My son likes the frozen coke availabe at Pop as well. Pop is also closer to MGM and Epcot versus Animal Kingdom while staying at All Star. The tax rate is slightly higher at All Star so that factors in price as well.

I don't hate them, we too have never stayed in them. We are a family of six (one in a crib) so I always go for one room in a deluxe. As to the question how much time do you spend in your room. A good bit with a baby! We always head back to the resort after a morning at the parks. The DH and the kids swim, the baby naps and I can sit on the balcony and read or head to the concierge lounge for a snack. The baby won't sleep if she can see me. :earseek: The easy transportation, the great pool slides, sit down restaurants all factor in to our decision about where to stay.

I actually LOVED the AS Music my first trip. Thought the theme, especially the main pool, was great. The food court was quick and quite tasty.

I HATED the AS Movies this February. Due to the occupancy level (sold out due to Daytona 500, Presidents Day, Cheerleading & Twirling Competition), all facilities were jam-packed. It took at least a half hour to order and receive meals at the Food Court, then the search began for an unoccupied table - and this was at "off" dining times.

The most annoying issue were the hoards of "tweens" roaming throughout the resort at all hours of day and night. Where were the chaperones? I don't begrudge them a good time, but large groups of unsupervised children seemed to be using the restaurant for a lounge area, instead of a place to eat. Of course, the pool and the bus capacity were greatly overtaxed.

All in all, I will return to the AS Resorts based upon budget considerations, and would recommend them to all. I do suggest that you call the Resorts directly to determine if what large groups are scheduled to stay during your visit.

I don't hate them but they are certainly not my favorite resorts. As some others have said, they are sort of glorified Motel 6's IMHO. Disney had a cute idea to use for the values and they certainly do get crowded. The reason I don't like to stay there is they attract families by the thousands. The pools have a ton of kids as well as the food court. Please don't get me wrong, kids are wonderful but not when there are 40 in the pool with you at once. Additionally, when I go it is myself and possibly one other adult and vacation. We don't want a lot of the noise that is associated with the values and perfer the moderates as people are more spread out between the various buildings, your not stuck in between two families with young children with slamming doors and screamers at 6:30 a.m. (had this experience and certainly don't miss it either). I think the values are a good vacation spot for me when I want a quick short getaway (2 nights) as you'll have disney transportation but for me for an actual vacation then I need someplace more quiet and leaving me feeling like I am on vacation.

The only thing we didn't like about the All Star Movies was the bus, only reason dh doesn't want to stay there again. Otherwise he liked it.
