Question regarding the segway tour posted earlier....

hey guys,
I posted this on the other thread, but it may have been too late to get a response.....i hate to sound stupid but what is a segway...this tour sounds like fun.......

The Segway is a 2-wheeled vehicle that looks something like an old push lawn mower. It's actually a very sophisticated device that uses electronics that respond to your body position to make it move or stop and to increase or decrease your speed. If you lean forward, the Segway senses your body position and moves forward. If you lean a little farther forward, it goes a little faster, etc. It has a hand control to allow you to turn left or right -- you can literally turn on a dime!

The tour lasts two hours, one hour of training (where they take you through everything you need to know to get comfortable on your Segway) and an hour touring the WS.

Hope that helps. It's not so easy to explain what a Segway is, but hopefully the photos on allearsnet will give you some idea.

LisaS did a good job of describing the Segway Human Transporter. You can also do a search on Google for Segway to get more information, especially from Segway's Website. Here is a photo of my DW and I during our tour. This is a great tour; very enjoyable.
