Question Regarding multiple reservation for same day!

Does anyone else feel its wrong for people to make multiple reservations for the same day. Ex. making 2 or 3 reservation for dinner for the same date at different restuarants. That makes it harder for others to get reservations for those days. I think you should only be able to book i reservation per night that way, things would not book up as fast

Yes it is very wrong and selfish in my opinion. Also from what I have heard they are cancelling peoples ressies if they catch them . This is what the new dining system is supposed to accomplish.

thats good, i mean ive changed my mind on where i wanted to eat, but have never thought to make 2 res. for the same night. I glad someone agrees with me (lol)

I agree that it isn't a very nice thing to do. Supposedly the new dining system will not allow you to double book which I think is a good thing.

We have double booked on two nights, HOWEVER it's because DH and I are eating at one restaurant and my mom is taking our kids to another. Nothing was said to me when I booked both of them at the same times (Well within 20 minutes of each other) on the same night. I certainly hope they aren't cancelled as one is for Chef Mickey's.

I think it's wrong too if someone does it just to do it but there are other reasons.

I agree that it is not right to double book. My DH and I put a lot of time and thought into where we want to eat long before the 90 day date arrives. That being said, we have occasionally changed our minds and called back and cancelled an ADR and made a different one when we decided to try somewhere different, but the people who make a couple of ressies per meal per day so they can "think about it" are just plain selfish. Even if they plan to eventually cancel, think of all the people who called during the time that they were "thinking about it" and held forever, paying long distance charges, only to be told "no". Not right in my book. KyraS, your situation is totally cool, and I would imagine that the CM was aware when you booked that. Hope you have a great time

If they are indeed two different ressies they should be booked under different names and ideally under different phone numbers too. Call back and make these updates. If there are two ressies for the same meal under the same booking name for the same day there is a great chance that one will be cancelled. In your case Chef Mickey's should be under grandma's name and her phone number too just to be certain there isn't a mix up.

Having multiple ADRs on the same day isn't an issue, its having the same meal booked as at mutiple places that is the problem. Even booking a 4:45 dinner and 9:35 dinner ressie is a problem in the system as both meals are considered dinner. If the first ressie was at 3pm not a problem as that is the tail end of lunch at most places. Esp with the Deluxe DP it is hightly likely that lots of families have 2-3ADRs a day, but for different meals. I don't see any problem with that.

people do it sometimes...I dont because I know where I want to go already but it is none of my buisness and I do not care much what other people do...if I get a adr at the place I want great but if I do not then I pick somewhere else.I do not get myself all worked up about someone elses pool hopping,re using mugs,double adrs or any of that stuff..

I disagree with the PP -- it's everyone's business because it's Disney's business. And anything that affects their bottom line will wind up coming back to haunt the guests.

The most extreme case here is when somebody holds two (or more) ADRs for the same time frame when they only are going to use one, and never cancel the other. That space is being held by the restaurants, causing them to lose some business which forces them to raise prices to stay profitable.

Plus, the annoyance factor of having someone "hoard" a finite resource, only to not use it, or to force people to make alternate plans that aren't ideal for them.

Please, anyone, if you're holding multiple ADRs for the same time, make a decision and cancel the "spare" ADR ASAP so that someone else can use it instead.

(Note: in the case, as noted above thread, where the party is split into different groups, there's no issue there involved... it's when you have multiple bookings for the same people that the aggravation kicks in!)

At one point the CM forgot to change the date when she started looking for my next request and she said that I already had a reservation on that day for dinner and couldn't make another one. Then she figured out what she had done. So, hopefully people won't be able to doublebook anymore.

your right it is disneys buisness ...its up to them to deal with this and handle it the way it is best for them....when it hurts disney they will fix it.I know people do this all the time but I have not really had any problem ever getting a ADR while on vacation...I have even got ADRS while at disney without making one 90 days out, at places like ohana and kona.
I am not saying it is not wrong it just does not do people a lot of good to let it get to them when people do it.If people really want to do this then they will just a dif name and phone number...maybe wdw should start asking for id when you go to your ADR...I am sure when this starts really making impact at wdw then they will do something about it.

I'm SO glad they're cracking down on this! It scares me to death to only have 90 days to book our ADRs. Since you can book 90+10, I am worried that once we start booking 90 days out, the people who are booking the "+10" part of their stay (who have ressies a few days before us) will have double booked, thus leaving us with our secondary-back up choices, rather than our favorites!! Don't know if that made ANY sense at all, but I get pretty stressed about where we're gonna eat!!

I understood that perfectly. I was afraid of the same thing, but I got everything I requested at the times I asked for - we tend to eat dinner at around 7:00 so I don't know if thats a good time or what. We got Le Cellier, Crystal Palace, O'Hana and numerous other ones so I was very pleased.

I agree that double booking is rude and should not be allowed. But, as a previous poster said, there need to be allowances for making 2 ressies if the party is splitting up. Saying to make them under a different name is a good idea, but I know when I called at 90 days (and used +10), they didn't ask for a different name/phone number for each ressie, it just went under our confirmation number and 1 phone number for them all. This didn't apply to us this time, we are splitting up once, DD and I will do CRT lunch, but DS and DH are just going to do QS. But I think they do need to make a way for that to happen while also eliminating the ability to double-book for folks who just can't decide where to eat and won't use both ADR's.

while I agree that it's not nice to double-book because you can't make up your mind, don't think the double-bookings affect Disney's bottom line much, if at all.

Disney fills those tables quickly when the people don't show up - it's not like they hold the table for an hour. If they have a No-show, then a few minutes later they're calling the next people in line to be seated. The real problem is not Disney losing money in the restaurants, it's inconvenience to those who can't get reservations when they want them. Disney fills the tables either way, though, because demand is high.

I just called to change the name of the ressie which was no big deal however my mom lives with us so there is only one phone number. I guess I could have given a cell phone number but didn't think of it at the time. I did ask the CM and she said that they would have not been cancelled anyway, so I don't know.............honestly though you can call and talk to 5 different CMS and get 5 different answers, LOL!
