Tried to make a reservation for any DVC property the first weekend of November...nothing available...suprise. Yet I see availability through Disney direct for any of the villas. Does Disney hold back some availability until it figures it can't sell the rooms? Just wondering if I should try for another reservation around the end of September

Thanks for any insight

There are two separate inventories. Members points inventory and traded points+DVC inventory. The traded points and DVC inventory are sold for cash via CRO to make up the cost of members trading out to non-DVC venues. So everytime a member wants to go on the DCL, DVC has to make up the cash for those points to pay DCL. And any member who wants to stay at the Polynesian on points? Those go back to DVC to sell to pay for the room.

So it is very possible that there are no villas available to reserve on points, yet availability of vacant villas for cash through CRO.

Plus, about 60 days out, DVC releases any remaining rooms to CRO to sell so that these won't sit vacant. Sometimes they can pull them back, but not always.
