Question re Ticket: am I understanding this correctly

We are thinking of buying into DVC and I am trying to plan things cheaply and logistically regarding other expenses we would have. In my number crunching I am looking at tickets. Is this possible with the Magic Your Way tickets. We plan on going between 15 and 20 mos apart so annual passes are not really an option. If we plan two 7 day trips and bought 10 day tickets with the waterpark and more option and the no expire option could we use those tickets in essence 20 days (if we visited a waterpark on a full day and didn't go to a park that day?) If we used 5 park days each trip and did the water park the other 2 days would we have waterpark admissions left over or would those be gone once we used up all the park days. Thanks! And does this ticket scenario make sense?

Yes, you can do that.

I wouldn't be at all happy with only those few theme park days per trip, but we're not water park people.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm not sure we'd be happy with it either, but just trying to work some costs and numbers out. We just got back from a 10 day trip with 8 day park hoppers and I think we would have been OK with only 5 days in the parks IF we had spent a little more time in them...We were not early risers and the heat got to us by 1:30 - 2pm. With a little more planning it might work.....Or my DH will tell me NO WAY it's not enought time and then this will all have been for naught! :)

FYI the water park tickets would still be valid after you a have used all the major park tickets up. So if you only used 2 water park tickets for each of your two trips you would still have 6 to use on future visits.

We are still using them from 4 year ago.

If you do buy DVC, you will save $100 on each annual pass. I would try to schedule my 2 visits within a year and do that. It would cost less than the 10 day no expire, and you could go as much as you want. We used to do that and go the third week of a month and the next year go the second week of that month. Now we go much more often.
OT-but if you are buying DVC, make sure to look at the resale companies. You can save literally thousands.

This post includes the assumption you have a ten day MYW ticket with both the Park Hopper and Water Park Fun and More (WPF&M) options.

Hopefully this will make it a little clearer. In effect you have two tickets with different privileges on one card. Everything expires 14 days after first use unless you have the no-expire (NE) option. If you have the NE option all the entitlements are good until they are used up. Even if you use up all your major park days, the WPF&M entries remain valid until used. (Note you do not have to use the days consecutively.)

You have ten days of access to the four major parks (AK, DHS, EC, MK), and may visit more than one major park on a single day without any extra charges. Without the Park Hopper option you can only go to one major park per day.

You have ten entries to the minor parks (BB, DQ, OT, TL, WWS). These may or may not be used on the same days as you go to the major parks. However, if you went to TL in the morning, Oak Trail* in the afternoon, and Disney Quest in the evening of one day you would have used three of the ten entries. (Note that leaving and returning to the same minor park on the same day does not use an extra entry.)

If you go to minor parks only on one day and do not go to a major park you do not use up one of your major park days.

If you were to go to a Water Park in the morning and then one of the major parks for the remainder of the day you would have used one minor park entry and one day of major park entry.

Note that with the MYW ticket unless you have the hopper option you can only go to one major park per day. Unless you have the WPF&M option you cannot go to a minor park without upgrading or purchasing a separate ticket.

*Oak Trail is a nine-hole "Executive" walking (no carts) golf course. Each person must have their own set of clubs and they can be rented for $15 per person if they don't bring their own.

you could buy the 10 day with ph and wpm non expire and use what you wish this trip, then next trip by just the AP withouth the water options and use the ap and a couple water options..in fact you can keep doing that until you use up your non exp water options

save your dvc $100 next time on your AP and maybe then you can get the next trip within 12 months rather than 15

you would need to check and see if your touring ideas would match and save with my idea
