We are going to WDW the week of Christmas. I'd love to use mobile ordering to save time not standing in line to order. Is there a way for my kids (16 and 14) to use it as well if they aren't with me? We do have the dining plan. Thanks in advance for all answers.

As long as they have a smartphone, the Disney World app, and an account that is linked to yours, they can use it.

Just make sure they know how the dining plan works. They need to know what they are entitled to order at each QS and also how many QS and snacks they each have. You could find yourself with days left and no credits.

We loved mobile ordering and took advantage of it at every opportunity. :)

We are planning to rely on this to reduce our wait time when we are there the week prior to CHristmas. Honestly, the best part is that we will need to know what we want before we are in line. Translate that to mean I have to decide before I am in line asking the CM what to order. LOL! My family always is quick, I am the holdup.

Pro Tip: We go and find a table, then sit and order from the table and just have 1 or 2 ppl get the food while the rest wait at the table. Much easier than table searching with a tray of food!

That's a good tip if the restaurant is not full. Its discourteous to others who already have their food and are looking for a table if the restaurant is full. Plus, it kinda defeats the time saving purpose of mobile ordering.

I would agree with you if I wasn't planning to eat at the restaurant. As a paying customer there is nothing wrong with it. And it still saves us time and is more convenient than standing in line. I'd much rather relax and order from my table.

Discourteous?!? Seriously, hyperbole much?

How is that any different than:

- A mom with a little one in tow and another in a stroller sitting at a table while dad gets in line for food.
- A large group where most find a table and a someone gets in line for food.
- Someone in a ECV waits at a table because they can’t stand in line while someone else gets in line for food.
- Et-bleepin’-cetera

Happyinwonerland’s “Pro Tip” is absolutely no different than any of the above scenarios; all of which are legitimate reasons for someone sitting at a table while someone else gets in line for food.

Lighten up already!

BTW, @Happyinwonerland, that Pro Tip is kinda brilliant.

When it is busy the CM's will not let you save a table. They steer the family to order and then they can sit after they have food.
I think that this happens in the CS restaurants that do nto have enough seating for the number of people coming through. Pecos Bill does this on occasion.

It's great to avoid standing in line to order, but if you want a table to sit at the week of Christmas, order and eat during non peak hours if possible.

They often do this Christmas week (when the op is going) during peek lunch and dinner hours.

To answer the OP, yes, if they download the app and they’re linked to to your MDE and reservation (aka they can see the DP on their account), shouldn’t have any issues. I’d love to hear back that it works for you since I’m planning to do the same for my teenage twins next year.

As for the off topic we got on, I can only speak from multiple experiences at Satuli Canteen, but there’s always been a CM inside blocking the tables from guests without food. They want you to have the food first. Outside seating looked more first come first serve.

If it wasn't "discourteous", Disney would let you do it. They don't. That will tell you what they think about it. That's not to say that people don't do it and get away with it but I agree, it's discourteous.

That's one thing but it certainly isn't "discourteous" to sit at a table if need be.
