Hello! My DH and I are leaving Saturday for our stay at WL. We're excited about the pathway to FW because we love to spend time at FW. We're planning on renting bikes and walking over there to soak up the good ol' fashioned country fun.

Can anyone elaborate about the paths/trails? Is it safe to take them at night? Any info would be appreciated.

P.S. To all folks going for Memorial weekend/week - wear your green ribbons or badges. We went to home depot yesterday to get our lime green Mickey Heads. My hubby posts here too - his name is Uncle Albert. Wave at us if you see us. We should come up with a wave kind of like the Adventurers Club wave.

my husband and i just got back from WL. it was great. one day we took the path to FW. the path started at the bike rental place. we walked the path, we wanted to rent the bikes but need more exercise so we walked. i thought the path was great. we had a nice walk saw lots of butterflies and a few squirrels. when we got to FW we heard peacocks. they had tons of them, one mom had about five babies with her. anyway, back to the path. the path isn't light up at night, so i think it would be pretty dark to walk unless you brought a flash light. i would ask a WL CM about walking at night. but walking during the day was delightful. it was also pretty hot, so bring lots of water and keep hydrated.

hope you have a wonderful time.:D

Well, it was further than I thought from what I read here LOL. We didn't time it, and we casually walked (we took the boat), but I thought it was about a half hour, or a little more. We may have taken the wrong turn, when we came to a road split, so it may have taken us longer. We really wondered if we were on the right path, since it's not well marked, when we finally saw the carriage bringing people on a ride.

I was glad I had hubby with me, as I kept hearing animals in the woods. Several armadillo's (sp) crossed our path..and the deer were abundant. Some of the animals didn't come out of the woods, but we could hear them thrashing around..got a little nervous that their might be alligators, as we were stayign there once years ago, when one was found in the campground LOL!

I would not walk that path at night, even if I had a flashlight.
