Question on re-entry using park hopper pass

I've forgotten how re-entry works with a 5-day park hopper pass. The first time we go into DL, they run the PH into their machine, right? Then when we leave DL, we get one of those flourescent stamps on the hand. To get back into DL, do we only need to show the stamp? Or do they need to take the PH? I guess I'm worried they'll deduct an extra day.

Based on our trip last month...on first morning use, they would run the card through the machine and then rubber stamp or hand write the date on the back of the ticket. when you would leave you would get the hand stamp. Whe, you would return, whether or not they actually checked you to see if you had a ticket as opposed to the hand stamp was a matter of random chance. We were always checked for hand stamp every time but only once were we required to show our original ticket too. I do not believe they actually put the ticket back in the machine but they did check the date stamped on the back of the ticket. The date stamp/write actually is a big help in proving if you've used a day or not.

Your milage may vary.

You will absolutely not loose another day upon re-entry, but you will need to be prepared to show your pass.

The machines are all programmed to read your barcoded passes. It counts dates, not entries.

Thanks to both of you! One less thing for me to lose sleep over. :)

When we were there in June, we showed our stamps plus gave them our cards ( each morning a little hole was punched for the first time they used it that day. One day the machines weren't working, so the CM stamped something on them.

I don't think there is any real set of procedures. The only time I had the ticket put in the machine was 7/17 for entry to DCA (line for DL). The rest of the time they just used a bar code scanner. They did not once check for a handstamp upon reentry.

Officially you must have both a handstamp and ticket to reenter, our handstamps are visible without using black light machinces, esp. during the day, so most simply look at your hand as your walking by, but some are a little more picky about it. Please note those with APs do not need handstamps.
