My family has the Disney Dinning Experience Card which is different from the Disney Dinning that everyone is purchasing with packages, etc. If someone has this could you let me know if you can use the card on not only your check but a friends who will be getting a separate bill at the same table. We don't want to put it on our bill because this person never, ever pays back even after reminders, etc.

Thanks for the help.

We just received our new DDE card and it came with a list of participating restaurants. The notice along with the list states: "The following is the most current list of participating restaurants offering Disney's Dining Experience members a 20% discount on all food and beverages for parties UP TO 10 PEOPLE. ...A driver's license or State ID must be presented when using your Disney's Dining Experience card." So it sounds like you will only be able to use the discount for the people on your check. Your friends will not be able to use it on a separate check because they will not have ID to prove that they purchased the card.

If your friends would like the discount they can always get their own card. Hope that helps.

Yup, servers won't split the check and do two discounts. You can however pay with two cards. Lets say the bill is $100, thus $80 after discount. Your friend can hand the server a credit card/guest id and say $30 on this card, and the rest on their card. Your friend could also toss down $30 in cash, and then you guys could put the rest on your card or pay cash yourself.

It all has to be on one bill. I would handle this one of two ways. Either: 1) Separate checks, and they don't get the discount, or 2) One check with a discount, they pay the bill and you repay them your portion.

I guess a third option would apply if they are going to be eating several meals with you. If that's the case, have them pay for some of the meals, and you pay for the others, and just try to balance it out up til the last day. On the last day, go back to the two options above.

I know that someone other than the cardholder can pay, because my Mom paid for our Boma meal with her credit card, even though the DDE card is in my name. We were both at the table though.

From what I've heard, server typically don't even check the name on it, but they won't do split check because its a lot more work for them(and they are not suppose to)

Exactly. So you could also let them pay for the whole thing, with their credit card or cash and you could then be the ones paying them back. I don't think it matters to the servers who's actually paying for the meal.
Good luck, hope it all works out for you and that you don't end up getting stiffed again by your friends. LOL

I was there Dec 9th-17th and the waiter had no trouble splitting the check and giving all of us the 20% DDE discount from my DDE card. I ate at CP and at 'Ohanas with some fellow DISers.

Never had a server fefuse to do a split check. Do it alot when with family.

A split check isn't a problem, but if a table of 8 wants all separate checks, and one guy has a DDE card, only his check is getting the discount. If he wants to pay the entire bill, and have friends pay him back thats fine, but not all 8 checks are getting the 20% discount.
