My last two trips to Disney I arrived around 11:00 am each time. But this time the airline pushed our flight back 4 hours  Now we will not even be landing in Orlando till around 2:30. With just checking in with ME, bus to the resort, check in. Now I figure we will not be checking in until about with Luck maybe 4:00 :earseek:. What kind of room opening will be left? I know I booked a standard room, because we really are not that fussy. I just requested non smoking, Casitas bld at CSR. I know that check in is 4:00 but come on how often do you really check in that late. Who wants to waste a day outside the parks???

And to make matters worst I have a PS for dinner at 5:30 at CP at the MK.

Nothing like the airline creating stress here. And heaven forbid if the flight is delayed!!!!!!!! :scared1:

We once checked in around 12:30 AM - and got a great room!!! My DD really wanted to stay in 101 Dalmations section of All Star Movies. A few days before we went, I did fax a request, but didn't say anything, just in case. DD had started to fall asleep by the time we got to the hotel, but her little eyes popped open when she heard the CM say we were in 101 Dalmations!!! She practically danced all the way to the room!!!

We don't usually request anything for our rooms; we're not picky either! We've often checked in around 3:00 PM or so, and we've never been disappointed with our room assignment!!!

Have a great trip!!!

Our last trip, we checked in to ASMo at 11:30pm and had a great room.

We checked in after midnight last year b/c our flight into MCo from our first half of our honeymoon in Punta Cana was delayed. We got a great room -an upgrade to a water view. Beautiful! :)

From what I understand--room assignments are done well before you check in. So just b/c you arrive at a certain time, doesn't have that much impact on your room location. We've arrived first thing in the morning and got an upgrade (they wanted to give us the room then and we were willing to wait).....we've arrived at 3pm and gotten an un-deserved upgrade to a closed building. We asked for a room we could get into right away since it was "check in" time. They gave us a standard room--no biggie.

For very late arrivals in the overnight (between Midnight and 6am)--they do ask that you reserve a room for the preceding night to guarantee a room.

Aside from those tidbits--I have no idea what goes into the logic of room assingments.

Room assigments are done before you get there. We come from the West coast, so we always check in late. If we leave at 8:00 am we get to Orlando around 6-7 pm due to flight time, layovers, and time change.

Arriving late is no big deal. It just means that you don't typically have to wait in line to check in.

Hmmm. When I first read your post I thought you might be arriving at 4:00 am. :scared1: If that were the case, then I was just going to suggest sleeping in your rental car for a few hours or finding a cozy bench in the lobby and not wasting a whole room night for that late of a check-in ;) But as I reread the post, it sounds like it is 4:00 pm - which is much better. That is actually a good time to check in- early in the scheme of things, depending where your original destination is. Hey, if you start worrying about it, just think about all of us out West that either have to Red Eye to get a morning check in, or bite our nails until we arrive in the evening. I've personally had a number of late check ins and never been disappointed with the room assignments. Don't worry about it and enjoy your trip :flower:

From my experience, I still believe the earlier you get there the better. We've been to WDW many times and we always get a better room when we check-in early. The few times we've had to check-in late we've gotten locations that I wasn't happy with. When I asked if we could get a different room CM's have told me there isn't anything left.

Considering that check-in doesn't officially begin until 3:00pm, that's hardly considered a late arrival.

Well the few times we been to WDW we always arrived late morning and got our rooms fairly quick. Also there was always a line at check-in during that time. I figured that the best rooms were already allocated out. :confused3

i have to agree check in does not begin to 3 pm so you should be o.k. i would call or fax a request 4 days before to try to request want you want.remember this is just a request not a promise so good luck and have a great time!

Just means that 3pm is check in time and most do not show up until then.

In my experience--early check in means better room b/c as luck would have it--we paid standard but nothing was available except for a slot or two up the latter. I think we've only ever been upgraded to the next tier--not more than that. With less crowds..it is easier to work some magic for the guest. When it is busy--it is easier to leave things at status quo. Just b/c there is a line is no indication that they are running out of rooms. And with the room assignments--when they are upgrading and moving people around..I don't think that they take your pre-assigned good view and give it away to somebody else.

Before 3pm no room is ever guaranteed--and most hotels in the country dont' allow early check in usually. So I would guess that even at Disney--most wait until the right time to check in.
