Question for those with a Discover Card

hmm. I've been using mine to get gift cards for Bath + Body Works or something like that as a "treat" to myself. I didn't know I could use the rewards to get a Disney Gift Card.

Well, you can't directly get a Disney gift card from Discover. You have to either redeem for cash and go buy one or you can redeem for a Discover gift card and use that to get one.

I just went over $50 in rewards this week and I was going to order a Discover gift card and then use it to buy a Disney gift card, but I had a better idea. Instead, I redeemed the rewards for a cash deposit to my checking account. Then, when it credits, I'll use my Disney Visa to add $50 to my current Disney gift card and pay it off with the $50 in my checking account. It's complicated but, hey, every penny counts when you're saving for WDW.

It's very easy. When you go to discover card's website and click rewards on the left hand side it says Overview then underneath that "redeem for..." Click redeem for cash. Once you are there click Request an Electronic Deposit. Have your checking account or savings account info and bank routing number ready and redeem away. You only get face value of the reward this way but the cash came in very handy during our travel for our WDW trip.

ETA - I got our tickets today and I'm VERY disappointed. It said platinum tickets and I'm thinking they're some sort of special admission ticket but actually they're the same tickets I can get at AAA for $7 each so I actually lost money on this deal. Well, Live and learn, I won't be doing this again.

I normally cash it in for cash for WDW or any other planned trip! At Christmas i redeem $45 for a $50 resturant giftcard (gave away as a gift)

Then I save them for sales or when a kid (or DH) NEEDS something...like this fall when 2/3 kids suddenly had no jeans that fit...or needs basketball shoes.
I like these GCs because you get a greater amount than if you took cash. My kids like it because I usually make them shop at Aero--GAP and AE feel like a real treat to them!
