I am scheduled to take the Backstage magic ABD next year and am trying to plan for my budget for the trip. I was wondering if you can charge things (souvenirs, meals, etc) to your room key when you get to Disneyland/DCA. It would be great if you can, that way I wouldn't have to plan to bring a lot of $$$ with me.

Can't wait for my adventure...only 357 days to wait!!!!!!!

Thanks in advance

We could (if we went back to the front desk and have them add our credit card numbers to our room keys). This was in 2010. When the bus arrived at the hotel, the room keys were already printed and someone from the hotel got on the bus, passed out the room keys and welcome packets and off we went to our rooms. I just used one credit card the entire trip and charged all of our purchases and meals to that except for snacks. I took cash for the ABD Guides tips and snacks (and any other tips we needed to do on our own - very few except for meals on our own).

One hint - you will probably purchase more at Mickey's of Glendale than anywhere else - exclusive merchandise you cannot get anywhere else! :) Have a great trip!

Thanks for the info....with being from Canada, I will be trying to limit the charges (and the exchange rate & foreign fees) on my credit card as much as possible.

I don't remember seeing Mickey's of Glendale on the itinerary. Is this at the Walt Disney Studios?

Excellent point! We probably spent more money there than any other stop on the tour.

Its at Imagineering. There is a lot of exclusive Imagineering merchandise - stuff you can't get anywhere else - and people love to snap them up. The regular public can't get into MoG so going on BSM is one of the few ways for the rest of us to have access to this merchandise.

MoG does not accept Disney gift cards, right? Only regular credit cards and cash?

Thanks for the info...can't wait to check out Mickey's of Glendale!!!!

Totally understand the limited charges. Mickey's of Glendale is at Imagineering. We were also given time at the Studio Employee store at the studios to shop. I did the most damage at those two places because it was for stuff you couldn't get other places. We were lucky enough to go to Club 33 for breakfast and I charged my purchases there to my credit card. I'm not sure if you can charge to your room key there.
