OK, so the schedule is open thru Dec 10... great news for our Dec 2-9 trip!!

BUT-- As is typical for the STL-MCO market, the fares stink! $320 roundtrip. Last Dec, I waited til late Sept when the fares went down to $200 roundtrip, then booked. I kept an eye on things and ended up getting a $70 credit per person ($280 total).

Should I play it this way again? (esp since I have to use my credit before Sept and this is the only flights we're taking this year). I like the whole "see a lower fare, get a credit" thing, but it kind of limits your options for the next trip.

When do you typically see Southwest have a fare sale after the schedule is initially opened? Because I REALLY like that STL-MCO $69 each way fare that they currently have thru Oct 1.

I don't have any experience with STL, because I live in Mass., but I hope I can help, I made the mistake of putting a credit I had that was expiring in November towards my entire purchase of tickets for August 2006, of course much better fares have come out for August since I bought tickets in April, now the new credit I have expires in November 2006, instead of April 2007. Only $280 of the purchase in April was with a credit, the other $760 was a new purchase, but unfortunately the new credit I have now expires in November 2006. How stupid of me. ;) I am going to take advantage of the six month extension rule, that at least gives me to May 24, which would mean I need to take a trip on the kids school vacation weeks which will be hard to get tickets for. I bought my August tickets on April 19th for $122 each way and it took until June 28th for them to release $59 each way on a ding.
