I have an Ergo Baby carrier, and I just love it. I want to get the infant insert for my next baby, but I was wondering what anyone thought of it? Does it work well? Do you like the original insert or the new heart 2 heart?

Thanks for your help!

Not sure how old your baby is, but we just used a baby blanket until both our kids were a month then neither needed it anymore.

Okay, thanks. So were your kids pretty small by weight or on the bigger side by one month? Did you feel like a newborn was secure in the carrier?

Thanks again. :)

I got my Ergo when my DD was about 3 months, she is on the smaller side and wasn't happy in it at that point. Now at 9 months she loves it. I didn't get the infant insert since she was already 3 months. They did just come out with the heart 2 heart. Not sure how that differs...

When my dd was about 2 or 3 months old, I put her in and just "froggied" her legs and she was fine. I liked the Moby wrap the best for when she was tiny, though.

Both of mine have been on the heavier side and long:) You can find some good info on thebabywearer.com

I have the Beco Butterfly 2 which is similar to the Ergo and comes with the infant insert.

My new little one was 6 pounds at birth and I used the Ergo right away with him ( within his first week). The insert really held him well and he was so cozy.

He's 7 weeks now and about 11 pounds. I had to take the insert out as now he's too big for it. But I'm really glad I had it for the first few weeks.

If you think you may have a small baby I highly recommend getting it.

I don't have any experience with the original insert, but we are still using the heart 2 heart for our 2 month old. He is 13 pounds now and almost ready to go without, but it has been a good investment. We use the Ergo whenever we are carrying him on an outdoor, longer trip, and we use the Moby and the Kangaroo pouches for indoor and shorter outdoor trips (DW seems to have bought every system out there!)

The insert seems to keep him very warm, which was a big plus in the winter, but would be a big disadvantage in the warm Disney months. I would use a Moby or similar for an infant at Disney who is too small for the Ergo style. The Kangaroo pouches just don't seem comfortable enough for us for long wear.
