My daughter has to have white tennis shoes for cheerleading (elementary 1st-5th grade) for this fall. I've looked at cheer shoes on ebay, but don't know how the sizes run or if they are similar to other athletic shoe sizing. For instance I found Asics cheer shoes and New Balance--my daughter's Nike's are a 4 Youth. Do cheer shoes run true to size of other athletic shoes? Thanks for your help!

My daughter's gym uses Nfinity and the ones we are using seem to run a bit small. She usually wears between a 4 and 4 1/2 size shoe and she was sized into a 5 Nfinity.

Also, make sure you get the right kind of shoe. For instance, the ones my daughter has are strictly indoor/gym shoes, used mainly for All Star cheer. The soles are so thin and light they are not to be worn outside. They come in cases and the kids change into them when they get to the gym.

If your daughter is not doing All Star and is doing any sideline cheering outside or cheering not on mats, make sure you get a sturdier shoe. Otherwise you will be spending big bucks in just a few months replacing them :goodvibes

Thanks, goofy! They need shoes for indoor/outdoor cheering, walking in the Christmas parade, wearing to school with cheer uniform on Fridays. Not All Stars, so I was looking at the shoes that resembled cross trainers to me. Even Keds would do, but I can't find any for some reason!

Wal-Mart use to carry cheer sneakers. I think they were Hanes. I haven't had to buy them in a couple of years, so I don't know if they still do.

My daughter has ascis cheer sneakers and they run small. She had to go a full size up

Do you have a sports supply store near you, like Modells or Sports Authority or similar? You should be able to try on any number of different shoes there, find the best fit, then order from wherever you like. We always found cheer shoes to run small.

That's what I was thinking. Is there a physical reason you need to shop online instead of going to the store?
If you're able to you're better off looking in person.

The local sports stores don't carry anything in cheerleading except Dick's had the turtlenecks and bloomers to match their uniforms. I just need some cheap white tennis shoes and on ebay the cheer shoes were actually the cheapest. I don't want to pay $50+ because this is not a "serious" activity at school, KWIM? (They don't even get to cheer at more than one or two of the little boys' basketball games.) If it were competition or even at a cheer gym, I would, but this is just kind of like looking for cheap cleats for soccer for us. :goodvibes So, no physical reason, just maxed out on what we're spending on extracurriculars this year in dance, etc.

Cheer shoes have always run small for us. If she isn't on a competition team, she should be able to wear any kind of shoe she wants. These days, even on DD17's High School cheer squad including the HS competition team they don't have to buy the same like they did when they were on Pop Warner Competition squads.
