We will be flying out of the States for our upcoming trip. We are spending the night in the States prior to our trip for convinence and so we can park and fly.

My question is when we get to the boarder and the attendant asks us where we are heading do we say Buffalo and leave it at that, or do we say Florida or give the entire story, Buffalo tonight enroute to Florida???

What do you all do?

Thanks

We just told them that we were on our way to Orlando-had no problems. We did spend the night in MSP and then flew out in the a.m.

We said we were going to Florida, but flying out of Buffalo.

Last time we went we were flying Air Tran out of Flint, MI. The US Immigration agent at Port Huron at first didn't believe us when we said we were flying to Orlando out of Flint. By the time we were done with her she'd made note of the airline name and web address and was going to check them out for her next trip to Orlando. :p

Next trip we're flying out of DTW so I don't think we'll have the same problem.

I would tell them you are going to Florida, because there's always the chance they will ask you the name of your hotel. If you say you are going to Buffalo and then are staying at Disney's whatever resort that will look funny. Honestly, I don't think they care if you are flying out of Buffalo, just the fact of where you are going and for how long.

I would tell them that I was headed for the airport. When they asked where I was flying to then I would say Florida. If they question further then you can tell them you are staying overnight in Buffalo, but they probably won't even ask.

I travel alot between Canada and the States because my fiance is American.

Just tell them your going on vacation to Disneyworld. I doubt they will say much. If they ask (or your car ends up searched) and they find the plane tickets, tell them the truth. That your scheduled to pick up a plane in Buffalo because its cheaper than flying over the border.

The border guards aren't horrible and they do understand.

In my experience, the more information you give the customs agents, the quicker they are to get rid of you. I would tell them that you will be staying one night in Buffalo before heading to the airport and catching a flight to Orlando. Personally, I would be afraid that, by not telling the truth, they wouldn't allow you to cross the border and send you back to Canada. Maybe I'm just paranoid.

I find that the same applies on the return trip... I always tell customs exactly what I bought, down to the last penny, and have not been pulled over in years.
