Question about Waitlist Chances

Hello everyone! My parents are DVC members at BLT, and they recently offered to rent some of their points to my fiance and I for our upcoming first trip to Disney together! We already had a MYW Package and just decided this a few days ago unfortunately and are going at Easter time. I really wish we had thought of this sooner! Well of course every studio is sold out for this time, and I so desperately want to stay at BLT! We are currently on the waiting for two types of studios at Bay Lake for the four nights before Easter. Can anyone give me an idea what the chances are that we will get off the waitlist? We have 50 days until we leave, and opted for the 7 night waiting list. I know its a busy time, but I would just be heartbroken if we dont. Is there anything I can do, such as calling to double check periodically, etc? Thanks so much for your help :goodvibes

Since cancellations sometimes occur closer to the 31 day mark (when owners have to cancel to avoid points going into a holding account), there is always a chance but I think it is probably pretty slim.

Calling periodically might help as you can check on the other view at BLT that your mom could not WL. I did that last year. I was WL'd for LV and MK view, but called every other day to find out about SV.

I ended up getting my LV room (August), but when I called one day, there was 1 of my 2 nights available in SV that had not been a few days before. I didn't take it because I was only doing 2 nights.

Good luck!

Even if you really want to stay at BLT are you willing to stay elsewhere- are you booked somewhere- I am going to guess that you will have a low likelyhood of actually getting what you want although BLT has not had an Easter season yet. I know that when I have called on short notice I have rarely found availablity at BLT.

If you absolutely feel you have to stay at BLT then your best bet this year is to pay for it through Disney.

Such a bummer that it looks like we wont get off the wait list : ( We are currently booked at Pop but may upgrade to POR if we dont get off the list. Id be willing to stay at another DVC, but all of them are booked for stuidos anyways and you can only be on 2 waiting lists. Although Im not sure Id want to use so many of my parents points if it wasnt at BLT though, since its really the only reason I wanted to switch to staying at DVC this trip! Im sure we couldnt afford to pay Disneys rack rate even if it were available! More opinions would be much appreciated!

I actually got off the waitlist for this past Christmas at Jambo. I had my 4 days prior at Saratoga and then we were switching Christmas Eve to Jambo. I was not looking forward to that move at all. We had presents and a tree that would have to be taken down and put back up.

We got off the waitlist for Jambo about 1.5 weeks prior.

Also got into Jambo less than 30 days prior to a last minute May 1st trip last year. I actually went down to the front desk everyday and checked for availability while at Jambo to stay the entire trip there instead of again moving to Saratoga.

My last waitlist was at Jambo once again, for Jan 2009. We got off that waitlist before the 30 days.

I would assume BLT is much more difficult to get. I have points there and tried to get a Res. but didn't even bother with a waitlist.

Good luck, I think you can assume what will happen but actually it's anyones guess. You have a back up plan at that's the most important thing

If you really want to stay at a DVC resort, you would be best to waitlist for a studio at Saratoga Springs. This resort will offer you the best chance of a WL coming through.

Also keep in mind that BLT probably had a wailist of people long before you added yourself, so they would have to be filled first.

Good Luck.

David

Have you already cancelled the MYW package? If not, check the deadlines and penalties for late cancellations.
