I am new to renting DVC points, but quickly becoming a fan. We are actually using this as a way to see if buying would be right for us.

In any case I have a good friend who is also a Disneyphile and I was telling her about renting. We got on the subject of upgrades. Her DH always upgrades something. Plane seating, room, etc. So she asked if you rent a DVC from an owner, is it possible to pay for an upgrade to a larger room, or concierge level? I said I would ask here, because if anyone would know it would be DIS board members.

So is it possible to upgrade on check-in to a higher level, or larger room? And I am not talking about free upgrades-lol, we can't get that lucky, but to pay for it.;)

Thanks for your time!

Sorry, no. Neither owners nor renters can use cash to upgrade from a points room.

You are very smart to rent before buying. I wish everyone would take the time to check out the DVC resorts before spending so much money sight unseen.

Consider your cost savings a upgrade. Most of my renters save about 50% off of Disney's cash rate. :goodvibes

we have been wrestling with whether a DVC is right for us. We have always stayed in values, but we go every year for 2 weeks. One day we are for it, then next not so sure:rolleyes:. So we decided, beyond taking the tour, to stay in a few DVC properties and try them on for size-lol. The way we look at it is, we have never stayed above the Values, and until we do so we can't make an informed decision as to whether a DVC and the benefits and costs that come with it are right for our family.

Also we are trying to get a least 1 night inside each one, or how will we know which one we want as our home resort. Or more truthfully, which one we are willing to settle for if the price per point is right;). They have offered some really good deals:rolleyes1
