Question about Transferring Points

I am planning out our next few DVC vacations and am running a few points short. I understand that there is a way to arrange to have points transferred points from someone elses account. I have also noted that somewhere on the stickies there is a note that "no compensation is allowed for transferring points". Does this mean this point transfer process isn't really allowed?

Ok...second question: Assuming this is allowed, do I need to rent points (have points transferred- not sure what the right term is) from someone who has t hem at the resort where I wish to stay or from my home resort. How much earlier than I wish to travel can I make these transactions? We want to plan my daughter's birthday trip for next year, but are using most of our US2007 points for HH and a big SSR trip with the grandparents in March.

It's allowed. However, that phrase essentially means that DVC/Disney/MS will not get involved in any dispute. Transferring points is a private transaction between members. If there is any disagreement or "fraud", you're on your own.

If you want to make the reservation before the 7 month window opens, you'll need all of the points to be from the resort at which you're planning to stay. If you're making the reservation after the 7 month window opens, it doesn't matter which resort the transferred points come from.
