Just back from our first stay at OKW. We stayed in a studio unit. They are nice unless you have rude neighbors in the 1 bedroom next to you. Basically, we had neighbors that would come in at 10:30 with small children and let them run all around, try our common door numerous times, and then scream at the top of their lungs until they fell asleep. Where were the parents during all this ???

My question is this. Since we definitely prefer the DVC (we rented points and it worked out very well), are there facilities that do not have that lock-off door in the studio units ??? They're really all we need but really don't care to be kept up all hours of the night again. A lot of noise gets through those doors.

Thanks for your help -

Sorry you ended up with inconsiderate neighbors. There are some dedicated studios and some dedicated 1 bedroom units at the BWV. There is no guarantee that you will get one, though. They are requests,

Don't know about the other WDW DVC resorts. I was surprised to learn that all of OKW's studios were lock offs.

Best wishes -

I'm sorry this happened. We have been very lucky, I guess. I would have been on the phone if it kept up. We've had studios with good neighbors at all of the resorts. BCV's have the door in the hallway area, as opposed to the living room, so studios there may be quieter.

I've been fortunate not to have this problem at OKW. But if I did, you can be sure that a phone call would have been made. And not to the front desk, but to the adjoining unit itself. I would be polite, but firm in asking that they keep the noise down as we were trying to sleep.

OKW, HH & SSR (I believe) do not have dedicated studios. VB has the Inn rooms only and the rest have a few dedicated studios.

I actually prefer the lockoff studios at BCV. I have found them to be very quiet and they have a shelf with a mirror and pegs which is so nice to hang my beach bag on or to lay my room key on.

I'd say any time after 10ppm you are completely justified in making a phone call to ask for peace and quiet - especially if the kids are trying your door!!!! That would drive me batty! I like the idea of calling the room!!!!! I don't know if I'd do it - I'd be afraid the noise would get worse - this time from the parents...... at least if the front desk calls them they wouldn't know whice unit for sure called to complain!

We, too, had the same situation at OKW. The noise started when the kids were awake and ended about 11:30 p.m. Not only were the kids running and yelling constantly, but the adults were yelling at the kids as well. Someone tried to open the door. We had 3 boys and understand that noise comes with having children, but we always had them to be quiet when we knew it was time for people to be sleeping and never let them run through the rooms. This is the second time it has ever happened to us, once at Vero and this time at OKW. Next time, we will be sure to call the front desk.

I too would call the front desk, then if that didn't work call the room and the front desk as a reminder that nothing changed...
