Question about stroller on buses?

If I bring my regular (not umbrella stroller) will it fit on the buses to and from our resort to the parks? Or should I just bring my umbrella stroller?

You have to take the child out of the stroller and fold the stroller up every time you use the bus service, so, yes, your stroller will probably fit, as you must fold it to get it on the bus.

As webray says, yes it will fit b/c you have to fold it up to get on. Every once in a while when it's not busy, a bus driver might let you drive it on the bus (especially the new style buses) but don't count on it. If it happens you're just lucky. Also keep in mind that if you're going during a busy time and end up getting on the bus with (it seems) everyone else that is staying in your resort, holding the big stroller in front of you can become very cumbersome as the bus will be very crowded, folks bumping into you and the stroller, etc. And heaven forbid it is full and you have to stand up and hold onto the stroller, and the bags, and the drink, and...you get the picture. We used our "big stroller" until DS turned 2 and then invested in a good umbrella - MacLaren. It's taller than the cheap umbrellas and still has a decent sized storage basket and it drives and turns very easily. Cost about $150 but it's the best purchase we ever made!

Oh yeah! Speaking of the bus being crowded and having to stand up...please allow me to vent for a minute. There have been several times over our son's short life that we have gotten on a full bus at park closing and had to stand. My DH of course toting the stroller and some of the bags and camera, etc, and I holding a sleeping baby or toddler - dead weight! Many times, a nearby gentleman (or younger lady) would offer me their seat - which I greatly appreciated. But there have been MANY times that no one offered to get up. So have you ever tried to surf a bus while holding 35 lbs of dead weight, juggling a camera bag, diaper bag, straddling the aisle trying not to fall and holding onto a nearby bar with your chin?? Well, to all those who ever gave up their seat - thank you. And to all those who didn't - pphhhhtttt!!!

There have been very long posts (and some parts have been heated) on this very subject. What it comes down to, if the bus is extremely crowded and you would be more comfortable and feel safer with your child sitting, it's been suggested you wait for the next bus, where you will be first in line and more apt to be able to sit. Some have said you might not have realized that someone was handicapped and had to sit, others have said they too were exhausted and felt the need to sit, and still others have said they were in their own little twilight world, very tired and really not noticing anything around them after walking for 12-15 hours. Still others said..well, uh..tough, they too earned the right to sit.
We always get a rental car, so I know we'll have a seat at the end of a long day. I think most agreed that was the best answer for a guaranteed seat.

I'll almost always offer my seat to someone with a sleeping child or a child under age five or so. The only time I won't is if my arthritis or asthma is really flaring up, and in that case I need it as badly as you do.

That said, I don't think that anyone should ever feel obligated to give up a seat. If you are going to need one, you always have the option of waiting to be first in line for the next bus so you can be assured of having one.

thanks for the quick answers. I will be bringing my full size stroller. I will fold it up my DS is 3 I just wanted him to be comfortable in the parks and wanted to make sure that there is room on the bus and through the doors to get the folded up stroller. We will be there during a busy season (Thanksgiving). Thanks again.

Yep, but as others have said, it can be a pain.
DW and I had the experience of taking the bus from MK to POR with 2 sleeping kids(1 and 4) and 2 full size (but not huge) strollers while completely dripping wet from head to toe after a massive downpour during Wishes. It was quite an adventure. Luckily, kind people took pity and offered their seats to us.

Keep in Mind that any driver that lets you do this could get in trouble with breaking Disney and D.O.T. rules even on the Low flour buses. So don't count on it.
