Question about size of POR

With little ones, we spent most of our time at MK and Epcot. We took the monorail at both of those and didn't mind the stops because our kids enjoyed the monorail ride so much. We actually didn't have to switch to go to Epcot because you can easily walk to the TTC from Poly and get on directly there.

We ended up driving our car to both AK and HS because we didn't want to deal with the buses. We just found it very hard to hold hands with little ones and carry a diaper bag while one of us had to fold up a double stroller and try to get everyone on the bus. We experienced that in 2008 when we stayed at the Wilderness cabins and that even had an extra bus due to having to get to the end of the campground and that was our most disliked part of the trip.

Actually, this is making me reconsider our reasons for staying at Poly last year. We will still be in the same situation with a double stroller and even if we don't have a diaper bag any more, we will still have a bag of some sort. Our youngest will be 3 on our next trip so hopefully he will stay with us a little better but I don't know about my daughter who has Down syndrome (she will be 6 by then but she doesn't understand danger and she will run away from us). It just makes the whole getting on the bus process very difficult.

Hmm...something to think about.
Yes I forgot about the pain of folding strollers on the bus. Here's throwing out something for you...if you're paying for deluxe anyway, try the GF or Cont. Unless you're absolutely in love with the Poly. I love to try many different resorts, each is so unique! At the Contemporary you can even walk to and from MK. Then if you drive to AK and HS, you are only relying on the Monorail to Epcot. You must make it as easy as you can for yourself with the little ones and your special needs child! :grouphug:

Just back today from short overnight trip to POR. We paid for preferred & requested AB buildings 14 or 18. This trip we ended up in AB 14, 2nd floor. Loved the location, however the layout of the room was different than our room in building 18 two weeks ago & we liked building 18's layout alot better. We used the quiet pool behind building 18 instead of going to the main pool to relax, however we enjoyed drinks at the Muddy River Pool Bar last night after a long day in the MK, while people watching & unwinding. We did decide that we'd always pay for preferred rather than try the mansions area as it's just too far from the food court, etc. The only benefit to the mansions seemed to be the specialty rooms and the fact that the nightly movies play on their lawn. JMHO......:goodvibes

When it comes to any resort, the upcharge for a preferred room is usually worth it. In this case it's $10 a night.. not a lot with all things considered.

I believe the additional charge for a preferred room at POR is $25, not $10.
