Thanks Ember and Imzadi. I fell backward down a *very steep*35 foot concrete driveway Christmas Eve. Broke both knees, fractured a hand and cracked the left side of my jaw bone. Face looked as though a semi had run over it a few times...ER nurse had a horrible time digging gravel out of it. Did a brain scan because they believed from the looks of things that I could have a bleed on the brain. That, thankfully, was negative. This sure ruined the holidays for our family and I had to stay at my step sons house until I could be moved. Awful! I feel pretty good now.![]()
omg that sounds awful! Especially cracking your jawbone! Thank God it wasn't worse! But it's still bad enough. Be careful, ILOVEPCOT!!![]()
And in this picture the band looks like yellow (golden) gold.

It was originally white gold. If you looked at the links posted in my first reply to this thread, you can see that it was originally white gold. White gold very often turns yellowish gold when it has been worn for awhile. It needs to be redipped to turn it back to white gold. My wedding and engagement ring are white gold and are fading to yellow gold again. Most of your white gold jewelry probably is rhodium plated. But there is a practical problem because rings are very high wear items, and even with a good thick rhodium plating, it will start wearing in spots and there will be a strong contrast as the yellow starts showing through.
If the rhodium is thin and wears through, you see the underlying material (which is 18 K gold in Diana's ring) which is not as white as it was when she first got it.
why is the band so thin?
In pictures of replica rings, the band looks thick but in the one with the real ring on her finger it looks quite thin. Seems that the band would have been wider to really balance with those stones.
My guess was to allow room for the wedding band to fit under the stone of the engagement ring.
Unlike our sets that are made to show both I think they knew there was only so much room on a woman's finger and with a rock that size the band would have to slide under it or else it wouldn't fit between knuckles! plus there would be a huge gab between rings on the back.
So I take it this is a "blue" diamond, and that this rock was part of the royal family jewel collection? Kind of like the necklace in Titanic. Bet its a decent collection. How would you like to have access to the "Crown Jewels"![]()
