Question about placeholder

I have read that some were able to use their placeholder for 2 rooms on a B2B cruise. For our next cruise, we ended up going alone and had our TA apply the placeholder for the second one towards the deposit.

I used a placeholder to make a new reservation for cat 8B oceanview family deluxe (1st/2nd passengers $3762 and 3rd/4th passengers $1773) on the Dream. I am looking at DCL website in Cat 7A Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Navigator's Verandah (1st/2nd passengers $3771, and 3rd/4th passengers $1773) it cost slightly less, can I call my agent to "modify" the reservation to upgrade to a different category and still keep the 10% discount based on the fare I see from DCL website?

As long as the new cabin is a regular booking and not a restricted fare (which requires full payment at time of booking) your travel agent should be able to modify your booking and keep the placeholder discount.
