Sorry -- this is long! ;)

Ok, so an interesting thing happened to me this morning while talking to MS to try and find a room for a quick trip down over Labor Day Weekend (Castle Suite Tour anyone?!?!? :thumbsup2 )

The wonderful CM who was helping me ( Hi Elaine!) Was able to find a studio at SSR for the 3 nights I needed (Aug 30 - Sept 1) There were a few other studios at the other resorts for 1 or 2 of the days, but NOTHING else on the 31st. I told her to book it ASAP and she got started. My transaction included a bit of borrowing and shuffling of another trip planned in April to get the points necessary, but it couldn't have taken more than a few minutes. Well, she goes to complete the reservation and the 31st is no longer available!! :sad2: The old system used to put a "hold" on the rooms until the reservation was complete, but not anymore. Elaine is wonderful and we try and figure something out. She even waits for me to check the Castle Suite Tour schedule to see if I can move my tour to earlier in the day and then waits for me to see if I can find a flight that would work. It gets to be too complicated and I feel bad for keeping her waiting so I tell her "Thank You" and that I will try to re-arrange things and call back.

She reminds me that we need to fix the other vacation we have planned for April so just as she is about to start work on restoring the original April and ... the 31st becomes available again! :yay:

So, thankfully I am a very talkative person and Elaine and I were having a nice conversation. The extra time got me my reservation. I don't like that it was lost in the first place, though.

QUESTION:

Why was this even an issue?

Members shouldn't miss out on a reservation just because they need to borrow points or if the CM helping them is not as quick as another.

almost this exact scenario happend to me over a year ago, so I do not think the "Hold" option has ever been there. You would think this would be fairly easy to add to the program they use, and is would be better for members. Little fixes like this can go a long way to making the reservation process less painful for members, and member service reps.

This is not a change to the reservaton system, there have been posts about "losing" reservation days this way for the last few years.

This happened to me while booking a 2 bed AKV concierge room. I had it and then it was waitlisted (the other MS rep was faster than mine).

I guess that I have just been lucky in the past.

The reason I thought it was something new is because the wonderful CM at MS who was helping me made a comment about the "new" system when she watched the room disappear from her computer screen.

Wonder how we could get DVC to offer a new "enhancement" so that the rooms are held once they are offered and you either complete your transaction or decline it and hang up?

Sorry, slightly OT...What is the castle suite tour? I have never heard of this.
