Question about multiple reservations

I am a brand new DVC member (actually haven't even signed the contracts yet) Anyway, we are planning a trip down to the World at the end of January(1/27-2/2) Anyway, I was able to get a 1BR MK view at BLT for 1/28 to 2/2, but not for the night we arrive, so I made a reservation for a standard studio for 1/27 and got put on the wait list. Not a big deal as we will likely get in late, however I would prefer just to settle in and not have to worry about switching rooms. Anyway, since these are two separate reservations that are linked together, even if we get the waitlist, can I just add ddp to the second reservation so I don't have to pay for the first night, even though we may be in the same room?

You can only link reservations for the same room type. So if you stay with the standard view for the first night, you can opt not to get the dining plan. If your waitlist comes through and they link the reservations, you will have to get the dining plan for the first night. I don't know if you have the option to unlink but then you will get separate keys and may have to move.

As noted they can only be linked if the same exact room type. If you get the WL and link them you MUST get the DDP for all nights including the extra night.
