Question about Maelstrom ride in Epcot?

Can I take a 1 year old on the ride?? I read somewhere where children had to be 3 years old? Thanks!

I just viewed the EPCOT map and it does not mention a height or age restriction for that ride.

You can definitely take a 1 year old on there. However, some young children are scared- there are some trolls and a short flume drop.

We took our 18 month old on, no questions asked. He loved it. I believe that 3-year old thing is more of a "guideline" than a rule.

Hi! Just wanted to chime in: My 4 and 3 year old girls were scared on this ride. I didnt think it was anything I would do again anyway.

I really liked the ride, but it could be a bit scary. I don't think will it be too much of a problem, though. She probably will love it, though.

Yep - I took my son when he was 18 months old. It is dark and there is one drop (not super big or scary). It can be scry for some kids due to the troll, darkness and theme.

My DH and I were just talking about this this morning and we have similarly aged children. We haven't been there for 5 years, but I seemed to remember something "scary." Thanks for the confirmations!

I think when it comes to this ride that each child is unique and parents should know best how they believe their child or children will react to such a ride. Some young children love it and some hate it depending upon their normal nature. If a parent believes that their child is ok with it, I say go for it!

Word of note: especially when there is a long wait in line for a ride I hope that parents should be well-certain that there child will not end up being terrified and scream the whole time. This really ruins it for other guests.

Just a teensy tiny bit. Maybe a couple drops if you sit on the side, but if you sit on the inside, you most certainly will not get wet at all!
