Question about Disney Gift Cards from Target

I have usually bought my Disney gift cards from Kroger to get the extra fuel points and the 2-5% back depending on what credit card I used. I have heard so much about getting Disney gift cards from Target but haven't really looked into it. Then it hit me. I am part of a wellness program (HumanaVitality) and can purchase Target gift cards with points I earn from doing basic things like exercising, going to the dentist, etc. I'm wondering if I can purchase say $500 worth of gift cards with my HumanaVitality points, then use a Target Red Card with the gift cards to purchase say $600 worth of Disney gift cards. My $600 purchase would actually cost $570 with the 5% off. Then I would use the free $500 gift cards and put the $70 on the Target Red Card (that would be enough to get the 5% back, right?). So basically I can get $600 for $70??? If this will work, this will help a lot with our food purchases for our trip in June.

You can not get the discount in store on any part not put on the Red Card, there is a walk around on line where you add the cards to your cart and set up to pay with Red Card and get the discount to show and click through to the review screen and then add the gift card. Discount on whole order stands, pay what you can in giftcards and pay balance remaining with your red card.

If I'm understanding you correctly, I will need to do this online. I will put in my Red Card information as if I am paying with it. Then when I review the order, I will add the gift cards. Correct? How many Target gift cards can you use at one time? I will have 20 $25 gift cards purchased with my wellness points. So I'm thinking I will have to do several transactions.

Yes, you need to do it online and you can only use four gift cards at one time. There used to be a way to combine Target gift cards on the app, but that recently disappeared.
I believe you can go into a Target store and have them combine your Target gift cards into larger denominations. Then you could make your Disney gift card purchases on their website and pay with those larger Target cards, thereby reducing the number of transactions.

Do you know if Target can combine e-gift cards? That's what I will receive from HumanaVitality. Basically, I will have a print-out with a code. I'm betting that won't work.

You can purchase target gift cards online with your e-gift cards. There is a limit of 4 gift cards for payment per order so you can combine the 20 cards into 5 $100 cards and then combine 4 of those into a $400 card and still have the 1 $100 card left. The cards are emailed so you just have to wait for the processing. Should be able to combine all cards within a day or two.

This is what I do as well. It works fine, saves me a trip to the store and I receive my codes usually within a few hours.

Pardon my ignorance, but what would be the purpose of purchasing Target giftcards with the e-gift cards if I can use only 4 e-gift cards at a time? Why not just purchase the Disney gift cards with the e-gift cards?

To me it's easier to track one order of a larger purchase instead of 5 separate orders. There have been a few horror stories of cards lost in shipping from target to home, so the less to keep track of the better. Also if you plan to do any "churning" through ebay, you'll want to work in larger denominations for the same reason.

But won't I have to place 5 separate orders to purchase the Target gift cards with the 20 e-gift cards, using 4 of them at a time?

You will, but you wont have to worry about tracking through the mail when you combine the cards since they will come through email. Only when you make the final purchase of the disney cards will you have to keep an eye out for delivery and track through fedex/usps..

Gotcha. Thanks for all the information. It has been very helpful!

Wait, I'm confused again. It doesn't take much!
If I am getting buying Target gift cards and having them sent through email, isn't that the same as an e-gift card??? Why would I buy e-gift cards with e-gift cards?

ETA-Actually, after looking back at your other posts, I think I get it. This is the process I need to take, correct?
1) Purchase the 20 $25 e-gift cards through HumanaVitality.
2) Go to Target's website and purchase a $100 Target e-gift card 5 times. Use 4 $25 e-gift cards for each transaction.
3) Go to Target's website and purchase a $400 Target e-gift card using 4 of the $100 Target e-gift cards.
4) Go to Target's website and purchase a $600 Disney gift card. Put Red Card info in and then when reviewing the order, add the $400 Target e-gift card plus the $100 Target e-gift card and pay for the remaining $70 with the Red Card.
Please tell me I have it now.

Yes, that is the process I was suggesting. :)

Im glad you posted this. HRBlock has an offer right now where I can get part of my refund back on a Target Gift card and they add 5% to it. So, I was wanting to get $500 back on a Target gift card ($525) then go online to buy $525 worth of Disney gift cards :)

I don't think you can buy $525 because they don't have $25 gift cards, at least I didn't see them. I think they used to. If you needed a $600 gift card, then you could get it for $570 with a Red Card, then you would pay only $45 after using your $525 gift card.
