Question About Desserts

We are going in December with FD. So if a dessert is included with lunch or dinner you would have to have that during that meal at that specific restaurant? You can't save it for later and get say a Mickey Ice Cream Bar or something?

No, you can't save it for later. The only exception is at resort food courts; they'll give you a receipt and you can eat your meal and then go back for ice cream, so the ice cream doesn't melt. But you can't "save" the credit and use it later as a "snack." You need to use snack credits for that.

This is exactly right. The only thing that I can think to add is that many resorts used to do this and give you an unlimited time to come back for the dessert, now they are giving you a time limit (half an hour for example) for you to claim your dessert.

at POFQ in May 2009, we were told 1 hour to come back for our ice cream...we asked because we actually wanted to go to the pool for a little while before eating the ice cream...we were hoping for 2 hour limit (some people have reported being told 2 hours at other resorts.)

When you bring your receipt back to get the ice cream, they check the time on the receipt, and rip the top of it as their "code" that you have claimed your ice cream.

Just get something that doesn't spoil or melt, and save it to eat it as a snack later. Cookies and brownies are good choices.

Yep...many of the counter service dessert choices are pre-packaged and transport pretty well...just avoid the ones that require refrigeration. We even saved some and ate for breakfast the next day, or as a late night snack when we got back to the resort.

If you aren't in the mood for dessert you can always ask to substitute a bottle of water for your dessert as well.

There's always room for creme brulee. ;) :lmao:
We sometimes get dessert to go. Tastes better later when we are more hungry anyway. :)
Maybe even split one and take the other to go.
