Question about chaging resorts mid-trip

I have read many posts about how painless it is to change resorts during your stay. Apparently bell services does a great job moving bags and food. My questions is regarding check in at the new resort. I have read people say they check in at the new resort, go to the parks, and their room is ready at 4pm. My question is how early can I check in at the new resort? Does it matter? If we have a 9am ADR in AK, can I check in at 8am at the new resort? Of course, we still understand the room is not ready until 4pm. I just dont want to make a special trip back to the resort to check in during the afternoon. And I also dont want to get none of my preferences for the room because it is so late in the day that nothing is left.

Generally, you can start checking in (but not usually get room assignment) at 7 a.m. (that is Disney's official earliest time) and often you can do it even a bit earlier as long as there is someone at the front desk to do it.

We've checked in twice in the morning. Once our room at OKW was ready and we were able to take out luggage and leave it there. The other time (BWV) we had to store our luggage and groceries with Bell Services until we were able to get into our room about 4:30.

If you have things that need to be kept cold, let them know.

We will be changing resorts 3 times in October - we have changed resorts in the past with our food and never had a problem. Sometimes, we get lucky and are able to check in before the 4pm timeframe for a room. Keep your fingers crossed.

Sooo many people enjoy moving. All I can say is they don't have our four daughters. I'd rather chop a finger off than move that menagerie!!

My husband does this all the time. He will get up early before all of the rest of us are up or while we are showering and getting ready for the day. Then he checks out of the old resort and either drives over or catches a bus over to the new resort and registers. He makes sure that bell services at the old resort knows to move our luggage and then he comes back, we eat breakfast, and head for the parks. Then during the day, we call to check in on whether or room is ready or not. It works out great for us. We just stay at the parks until we can get in our room and then if we are ready to leave the parks, we can get into our new room.

Good Luck, I'm sure you will find it an easy thing to accomplish!

Beautiful Day in Illinois. Happy Mother's Day to everyone tomorrow.
