Question about car rentals

I like National b/c of the EA. I love being able to bypass the counter and go straight to the aisle, pick a car and be on our way. However, the prices for our trip at the end of August are crazy!

Are there any other car rental agencies that let you bypass the counter and go right to the cars like National's EA?

I would imagine all of them will, if you first join their frequent rental program. I belong to Thrifty's Blue Chip program and that is one of the advantages of using it.

You can avoid the counter with Alamo by renting through their site and if you don't have a coupon you can check-in on-line before you go, otherwise if you are using a coupon you can just go to the kiosk and then show the coupon and your license, paperwork at the exit booths. We haven't gone to the counter in years.

Other car rental companies definitely let you bypass the counter (with membership), but I'm not so sure how many let you "pick out your car." In many cases you bypass the counter but still have a pre-assigned car.

Or hopefully that's changed now and it's been too long since I rented a car!

I have heard that Alamo let's you pick your own car. Not sure if that's important to the OP though.
