We are planning a quick trip to Universal July 15-18th to see the Harry Potter stuff so that in the future when we go to Disneyworld we can focus completely on the Disney Parks. IF we were to stay on Disney property, but only drive to Universal and not visit any of the Disney parks is there a chance that a bounceback offer would be in our room? Could we use the bounceback to book our Disney trip for October 2013 --or is that too far out? We would stay at a Disney value resort for this trip. But we would be hoping to stay at either Art of Animation or a moderate for our October 2013 Disney trip and hoping to get free dining if offered. I'm trying to decide if it would be better to try for a bounceback or just book with a Disney Visa code or some other pin they would send me. Is the bounceback better? If there is not really any benefit than we would prefer to just stay at Universal's hotel to get the early entry and front of the line pass that they offer. Please help...we have to book this in the next few days. Thanks greatly!

Never personally stayed at WDW and traveled elsewhere, but I imagine that the bounceback would be available.

If the card is not there, simply call guest services from your room, and ask them for the current offer, and tell them you are interested in booking.

I'm pretty sure that the bounceback offers are available simply for staying in the Disney resort. You don't have to visit the parks to get it, because it is a discount on a room, not tickets. However, I have no idea how much the bounceback discount would be or how much other possible discounts from Disney would be. In my opinion, it is pretty much a gamble either way, so you'd need to determine if the perks of the Universal hotel for this trip are more important than a possible bounceback discount for a future Disney trip.

Further thought...

How does WDW know if you went to a park or not?

You CAN buy your tickets from WDW, but you don't have to.

You can stay at a WDW resort, and buy tickets from UT.

Which solidifies my belief if YES, you can still get the bounceback.

If there is a BB offer currently available, then yes, you would be eligible for it if you're staying at a Disney resort. Like the pp said, if there is no flyer in your room, call extension 8844 from your room and ask if there is one. Keep in mind that you have to book a BB on or before your check out day in order to qualify (and they do check to make sure you're a Disney resort guest, at least in our experience). With that said, the BB that would be offered now would most likely be for a future trip in 2012 and most likely not even into 2013, especially not as far as into October of next year.

I booked a Bounceback the end of May and at that time there was no offer that included any part of 2013. You could only book until dates in December 2012. So unless the offer has changed in the last month, it would not work for your dates. The current offer is up to 35% off depending upon where you are staying.

We were at WDW about two weeks ago and it was still the same bounce back that is for stays thru the end of 2012.

Honestly, the perks of staying at one of the Universal Hotel's is well worth it. The fast pass and early entry is TERRIFIC!!
You should get a pin that would be the same a the bounceback offer, and you won't be able to book for the dates that you want.
Just my opinion!!
Have a wonderful trip!!

As a pp stated, if a bounce back is available you can book it just by calling prior to checkout and giving your confirmation #. I usually book a bounce back before checking out "just in case". I would be very surprised if dates for Oct. 2013 were available to book for a bounce back before the end of the year.

I would go and enjoy a Universal onsite vacation :goodvibes. I am sure there will be decent room and package discounts for your dates next year.

Just my opinion - but stay at Universal! The FOTL perk is beyond amazing and will make your stay. Also, if you want to really see Harry Potter, the extra hour in the morning will really help out with that :thumbsup2

OP, I just want to make sure I am understanding you correctly: You would book a room only at a WDW value for a stay in a couple of weeks but would be going to Universal. The only reason for staying WDW now is the hope in getting a bounceback that includes Oct 2013 dates.

Yes, in theory, that would work because tons of people book room only and they have no way of knowing if you went to a WDW park or not.

However the current bounceback only goes through the end of 2012. I wouldn't expect to see any 2013 stuff until mid to late August, and that would probably only be free dining for mid August thru Sept 2013. The 2013 BB room discounts don't normally appear until Oct/Nov time period.
