Question about borrowing

It seems that if you borrow points for a reservation, and then cancel your reservation, those points do NOT return to their original use year. My question is, what if you don't cancel the reservation in full, but rather, drop a couple nights off of it. For example, you reserve for a week, and then later decide to go down a day or two later than originally planned. Do those points go back to their original use year? Or are they stuck in the use year the were borrowed to?

They're stuck.

The borrowed points are returned first, but they remain in the UY into which they were borrowed. Current UY points are always used first.

Actually, any points that you borrowed into a UY are used first, since they can't be banked.

Of course that's true.

It's just that I never have any points that are current! :rolleyes1

Banking and borrowing are final transactions and they stay where you move them to.

You might be able to bank the regular points.

You can see where having the correct UY can be important.
