OK my dad has never flown, or been to Disney World for that matter, and he's taking his first trip with us this October. My question is this: will he need anything from his doctor stating he has a metal plate in his chin (his chin was crushed 24 years ago in a work related accident & he now has a metal plate with four screws where he chin should be) as well as a couple of disc in his back & spin...we haveno idea what will happen when he goes through security! It may be a stupid question, but we've all been worried about & was wondering if anyone has any information concerning our situation. Thanks for any tips or suggestions!

The doctor note is. Worthless. Anyone could make one up. If he sets off the metal detector they will give him the full pat down.

I have 2 plates and 6 screws in my pelvis and have never had a problem flying. I did get sent thru the body scanner last time though because I forgot to take off the "I'm Celebrating" button when I put on my hoodie :lmao::lmao:

I do carry a note written on the doctors prescription pad stating what and where I have metal located in my body. Apparently they set off metal detectors at the federal courthouse lol.

No doctors note required because TSA could care less.

If you do not set off the metal detector you are free to proceed. If it goes off they will ask you if you have any medical implants. Whether you do or not still requires the full body pat down.

My mother had knee replacement surgery and a has port in her chest for chemo. She has a card for each (kind of looks like a credit card) for going through metal detectors. It’s more than just a note. Have him ask his doctor about this.

My mom has a spinal cord stimulator implanted in her back and she calls the remote control her "garage door opener". She carries the card with the information about the device with her at all times. She's flying with us next week and she is expecting the pat down. I think the only other time she flew after the implant she did not get a pat-down, even though she'd planned on it:confused3.
