Queen, Jasmine and a Disney Virgin...will he love it like we do?

Love, Love, Love your TR!!! Thanks for sharing!

Another great TR to help get me in the mood for my upcoming trip.

In all the years I've gone to WDW, I've never seen the Beauty and the Beast show. It's going to be on the top of my list this year, I bet my DD will adore it.

Can't wait to see and read more. :surfweb:

Great pics of Beauty and the Beast. :) We've never checked out American Idol so I'm thinking we'll have to do that this trip. Nice update!

Great pics of the parade even if that guy's head was in your way :headache:

I love the pics of Beauty and the Beast I will be watching it on my trip in 12 days :woohoo:

I am glad you enjoyed American Idol since I recently got into the show I want to see it on this upcoming trip.

I've been riding that double edged sword before. But the kids are much older now and it makes it much easier. At least it makes it easier at 4:40 pm. The whole pre-teen thing is another story.

Great shots of the Beauty and the Beast Show. I'm dreaming of the day when one of my kids are dancers in the show.

Never seen the parade. Like you it's usually too hot and I'm back at the pool.

I'm on the fence about the AI show. It just doesn't seem "disneyish" enough. But I'm sure my kids would enjoy it. I'll have to tell them about it. It wasn't there when they were last at WDW.

Great pics of Beauty and the Beast! I love that movie too and can't believe I've never seen the show at DHS?! Going to have to remedy that soon too!

AI looks interesting too, haven't tried it yet as DS may not be able to sit through it, quite yet. Plus I will want to be the one singing on stage and I've heard stories about how it takes up pretty much your whole day if you make it onstage at one of the shows and get lucky enough to get to the finals. Oh well, maybe when DS is a bit older?!

Great update as usual, Queen! ;)

Hi Queen!!! Sorry I have been MIA...things are just kinda crazy around here. YOur updates have been great! The Plaza's food looked fantastic!! Sorry the weather was chilly that day for you guys, but you sure did get some great clothes to keep warmer with!! Your pics at the Beauty and the Beast show were awesome!! We haven't seen the AI show yet...definatly going to try it next time! And a "down in front" to the guy in the parade pic...LOL:rotfl: Can't wait to hear about your AK day!!:goodvibes

Wow, how is it we have never seen the Beauty & the Beast show? (12 trips too!) lol. And when you "win the day" at the AI show, what does that mean? Thanks and we are still enjoying your report!

You are too kind...thank you for the wonderful comments:hug: I think your little sweetie will really enjoy it...the colors and costumes are gorgeous and then there's the singing....magic, pure magic!!!

Can't believe your trip is right around the corner!!! Such an exciting time...I love the few days before the trip and the actual travel day:thumbsup2

Great pics of Beauty and the Beast. :) We've never checked out American Idol so I'm thinking we'll have to do that this trip. Nice update!

Thanks Dawn! It was nice to go in and enjoy and wonderful show and get off our feet for a little while, I think we'll do it again next trip too!!

I thought of you when we went to see it!!

You went to audition for American Idol? Tell me all about it!!!

Can you imagine being able to turn to all the people around you and say "that's my child up there". When Jasmine went to the Western Canada meet for taekwondo and won a silver medal, I did that....I didn't care who they were I told them that was my daughter!!! Not proud at all:rolleyes1

The AI show is not disneyish at all, but we have watched many a season, so we decided we had done everything else that day so why not go there, and I have to say I'm so glad we did, it was a lot of fun!!

Hi Liz!

Maybe when we get that "ladies only" trip planned, you could sing that day!! We would all be there cheering you on:cool1:

Hi Tiff, I've missed you, but I also know you're a busy lady getting ready for your trip:thumbsup2 Is Abby beyond excited? I can't wait to hear all about it when you get back....we'll get together then. We can chat about our trip, your trip and Peg's cruise:rolleyes1

Wow, how is it we have never seen the Beauty & the Beast show? (12 trips too!) lol. And when you "win the day" at the AI show, what does that mean? Thanks and we are still enjoying your report!

We have been the WDW so many times and there is stuff we haven't done either:confused3 I have never done Swiss Family Treehouse and I have no idea why? Just did the Tiki show last summer.....had to go on Small World after to get the song out of my head:rotfl2:

They take one winner from each show during the day and they compete at the 7pm show and the winner from that gets a special ticket that takes them to the front of the line at whichever AI audition show in the country they want to go to. I thought it was pretty cool:woohoo:

Our plan for this day was Animal Kingdom...this has become one of our favorite parks. We love EE, Kali and the safari, but we also love that we can just wander and relax while we enjoy the animals. I love how lush and peaceful it seems too.

This was the only morning that we were actually up and at the park by rope drop or shortly there after! We had a noon ADR at Rainforest Cafe so we wanted to get in EE and the safari for sure before we headed for lunch. We had decided that we wouldn't do Kali River Rapids this trip because it was still a little on the cool side. It wasn't a bad day, I believe it was high 60's on this particular day, but cool if we had been soaked, which we knew from past experience we would be!!

189-1.jpg

Here we are arriving at the park. I was happy to see that the crowds seemed manageable again...score!! Unfortunately, there were no photopass photographers at the entrance so I wanted to take a couple of pictures of the kids as we entered.
190-1.jpg

The pattern continues...this is how I viewed the kids most of the days in the park!! They were so excited to get to EE, it was like they were in a sprint!
191-1.jpg

Aladdin went to grab a map because he wanted to take one from each park home because he didn't think his family could quite get just from talking how wonderful and big these parks were. He also grabbed a times map because the only thing I cared about seeing that day was FOTLK. I mean, yes I wanted to see everything else, but I can't miss that show...it is my FAVORITE of all shows on property!!
193-1.jpg

Signage at the front of the park. We were heading to EE so I decided I would just grab some shots on the way instead of having the kids stop, they really weren't in the mood for photos on this particular day...maybe I had pushed them over the limit...too bad, that's what I do!!!
194-1.jpg

Tree of Life...Aladdin couldn't believe it wasn't real! I pointed out the different color of the leaves, but he said he still thought it was real. He was looking forward to seeing It's Tough to be a Bug, especially after we told him it was in the Tree of Life.As we were walking to EE, it started to rain, not drizzle, rain!! I told the kids to go ahead and get in the stand by line and I would grab them FP's while they rode, then at least we wouldn't be walking back and forth. It was a pleasant surprise when we got there and the wait time showed 10 minutes. It was raining too hard for me to take the camera out, so no photos of the kids entering EE or for that matter, riding it!

They got off and the 3 of us rode with FP's as the rain had subsided a little. Jasmine and I rode EE before during rain, and let me tell you, it's not a pleasant experience when your going fast and the rain is pelting you in the face...must be hilarious to watch though!! I asked them if they wanted to ride one more time and they did, so I just waited outside the store for them. I can only do that ride once then I need a little break....did it 2 summers ago in a row and I didn't feel well for a couple of hours, so wasn't making that mistake again...I have to remind myself I'm not in my 20's anymore!!!

195-1.jpg

After their last ride, we headed over to go on Kilimanjaro Safari's...I thought Aladdin would really enjoy this and with the rain and cooler temps, I was hopeful lots of animals would be out!! Along the way, we ran into Turk. As they were walking up to get their picture taken, Aladdin turned to Jasmine and said "who is that"? We both burst out laughing as Jasmine said "I clearly should have done flash cards with you before we left"!

197-1.jpg

I think he redeemed himself when he knew these 2 were from the Jungle Book, didn't know their names, but he knew the movie!
199-1.jpg

We headed to KS and walked right on....the ride started out wonderfully, it wasn't raining anymore and so many animals were out. We decided Aladdin should sit at the edge...we've been on this ride so many times, we wanted him to enjoy it! Well we weren't even 1/4 of the way into it and the skies opened! Poor Aladdin's left side was soaked...thankfully, the temperatures weren't bad or we would have had to go back to the hotel for him to change. Having said that, that is why we have no pictures :( We laughed so hard at our luck with the weather. What do you do, laugh or cry, we decided when it's raining we might as well check out some of the shops!
201-1.jpg

I loved that Aladdin was totally into this! He wanted a hat and we were cracking up at how they looked on him. Jasmine took the shopping experience much more seriously...she was checking out 2 particular shirts and couldn't decide between them. Aladdin and I both liked the same one, so that's the one she decided on. While her and I were going through them, he took the camera and wandered around the store taking pictures. I am so happy he thought to do this, as I am usually too busy shopping to think of that
202-1.jpg

I absolutely loved these bowls. They also had plates, salt and pepper shakers and some ornaments, but they were really expensive.
203-1.jpg

Masks, I loved these too, but I actually took a moment to think where they would look good in our house and I couldn't think of anywhere, so I left them there
204-1.jpg

Aladdin took this shot for Mini Montana, she loves panda bears so he thought of her as he was having his "shopping" experience
205-1.jpg

206-1.jpg

207-1.jpg

208-1.jpg

209-1.jpg

210-1.jpg

211-1.jpg

This cracked me up...I thought for sure he was going to buy this, but he didn't.

Too many pics....so I will post this and do another!!!

Left off with Aladdin and his hats...well couldn't resist posting this one. Captain Jack is my favorite real life character so I made him put this on!!

213-1.jpg

Having made some purchases we decided it was time to head to the front of the park for our noon ADR's at Rainforest Cafe. I couldn't remember the last time we had eaten here so Jasmine and I were quite excited about it!
216-1.jpg

The kids waiting for their lunch. We skipped breakfast because we wanted to be good and hungry for this lunch. I remembered how large the portions were so knew we would definitely have enough food
217-1.jpg

The restaurant was virtutally empty yet they were turning people away who didn't have ADR's.
218-1.jpg

We were there for over an hour and it never did fill up so I'm not sure why they were turning people away unless they didn't have the staff to look after them.
220-1.jpg

We got Aladdin to take this shot for us. I'm almost positive the last time we ate here Jasmine was 12.....
221-1.jpg

Jasmine's lunch....she decided to have chicken parmesan...it's one of her favorities, but I should have taken a picture of her face when it came! We could easily have split this and still not finished it, it was huge, and delicious, we all tried it.
222-1.jpg

Aladdin and I both had the burger and it was good...not as good as The Plaza burger, but good nonetheless.
223-1.jpg

The plan after lunch was to head straight for Camp Minnie Mickey to see the 130pm show of FOTLK. I was so excited as we headed over to the one thing I couldn't wait to do!! On the way, we noticed Lilo and Stitch were out for pictures so we had some time so we stopped for the kids to get their pictures taken.
224-1.jpg

Just as we got in line, they took their break, so I decided to take a picture of where we were headed next. As you can see, not a lot of people there so I knew FOTLK wouldn't be overcrowded.
226.jpg

These two were great, they kept kissing the kids, so cute
227.jpg

Camp Minnie Mickey sign. Now, I have to tell you I didn't take any pictures of the show. I just like to watch it and take every moment in, so for that I apologize, but I can tell you, Aladdin thought it was spectacular, he liked it better than Beauty and the Beast. He even said if I wanted to see it again, he would watch it too!! How sweet!!
229.jpg

Our plan was to stay and get their pictures with the characters before moving on to Discovery Island. Because it was raining, alot of the characters were together, including these two. Aladdin was so excited to see Mickey!
230.jpg

This is one of my favorite pictures of the entire trip. As they were lining up for the picture, Jasmine told them all to pose like bunnies, we howled. Pocohantas was laughing so hard, it was just one of those moments I don't think I'll ever forget. Jasmine actually used this picture as her profile picture on facebook.
231.jpg

Then it was time to see Goofy! Best memories of the trip hands down for me. When they went up to see him, he kept pushing Aladdin out of the way and stroking Jasmines hair and face, then pushed Aladdin away.
232.jpg

He was trying to get her phone number and no one would give him a pen and paper...I had tears rolling down my face I was laughing so hard.
233.jpg

Fawning over her...he finally just turned his back on Aladdin
234-1.jpg

After he walked up and down the line of people waiting to see him looking for a pen and paper, he just took Jasmine to the phone behind where he was and instructed her to punch in her phone number.....this went on for a good 5 minutes
235.jpg

The people waiting in line were not happy that he was taking this long with the kids...but older kids never seem to get that kind of attention from the characters so I was really happy for them.
236-1.jpg

Aladdin still trying to get in for the shot
237-1.jpg

Finally success, but it wasn't over yet.....
238-1.jpg

Goofy wasn't letting her go until he got his kiss, the character handler kept saying Goofy, she has a boyfriend already, even the PP was cracking up. He finally got his kiss, then he took off running from Aladdin....the whole time we were there must have been 10 minutes...a true magic moment for us.
240-1.jpg

While we were waiting to see Donald, there was a mom and her 2 little girls in front of us who had on the cutest outfits. I asked the mom if she had made them and she said no, that she had ordered them online. The girls were maybe 2 and 3 years old...well as her mom and I were talking, the littlest one turned to Aladdain, lifted her shirt over her head and said "i have nuffin on underneeff'. We lost it....we could not stop laughing..out of the mouths of babes!!!!
241-1.jpg

Our last stop was Chip and Dale...last year these two fought over Jasmine, but this year everything went smoothly!!!

I really should get on with my day, so will finish up AK tomorrow. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!!!

Wow, Jasmine is really photogenic and beautiful.

I know a LOT of people don't like the Rainforest Cafe', but I LOVE it. I make sure to visit whenever I'm in Florida, California, or Vegas. I always get the same thing though, the Chicken Fried Chicken and Mashed Potatoes..... Mmmmmmm, can't wait.
I remember the last time we went to the RFC at AK.... DD was 18 months old.. She dropped the cap of her bottle on the ground, and when she went to pick it up she feel head first into the ground and scrapped up her forehead really good. She still has a little scar from it, poor baby. :(

That's so funny that Goofy was hitting on Jasmine.... You have some great character pictures. I'm hoping that Reya will cooperate this year and we can get some good pictures. Do you by any chance know if the characters are allowed to hold babies. I would love to get some pictures of my baby boy with as many as possible.

looking forward to more updates. :)

Just found your TR and have to say I have thoroughly enjoyed it. Your daughter and her boyfriend are so cute! Loved them with Goofy. And isn't it great to see things through the eyes of a first timer? DS and I went a couple of years ago with my best friend and her DD (who has been good friends with my son since they were 2. BF and I secretly hope some day they wind up together) Anyway, it was her DD's first time and it was great. My DS is also 17 and graduating this year. We've taken alot of trips over the last few years as we've had AP's. I've really cherished those trips being able to have my teenager still hang out with me. I've told him he has to marry a girl who loves Disney and when he has his own kids needs to bring grandma along on his Disney trips!
Unfortunately I let our AP's expire with college coming up and all, but now you've got me thinking one last trip before college might be a nice graduation gift!

I thought of you when we went to see it!!

You went to audition for American Idol? Tell me all about it!!!

Aww thank you

Sorry for the confusion I just meant I started watching it :happytv: :rotfl: I am not a good singer:rotfl:

I am glad Aladdin was such a good sport with the character pictures :thumbsup2

I love the hat pictures :lmao:

I also love the bunny pose

Great update!

It is obvious from the pics that you all had a great time at AK! :goodvibes Sounds like you made a lot of wonderful memories! :)

I passed on your compliment to Jasmine and she said thank you very much!

I love Rainforest Cafe, I have never had a bad meal there, but next time I'm gonna try the chicken fried chicken...sounds delicious:yay: Poor baby is right...probably scared you half to death too:scared1:

I have seen pictures of face characters holding babies and they are beautiful....I think you'll be able to get some good ones!!

Thanks again for reading along;)

I am so glad you joined us and are enjoying the TR:cool1: I've told Jasmine the exact same things as you've told your son. The night before we left when Aladdin went home to have dinner with his family she said to me that she hoped he would love it. I said what are you gonna do if he doesn't....she said I'm not sure, it's always been such a big part of our lives.....fortunately, no worries, he loved it:cloud9:

I think you should have just one more trip.....then I get to read another PTR!!!

Aww thank you

Great update!

Lol, don't worry, I couldn't carry a tune if it was in my pocket:lmao: He had more fun in the line ups than the kids did. At Christmastime, one of the gifts he wanted to get Jasmine was a build a bear in a cheerleading uniform as this would be her last year competing....he reminded me of Will Farrell in Elf, there he was standing in line waiting to stuff his bear with all the little kids and he didn't care what anyone thought......

Glad you enjoyed the pictures...the bunny pose still cracks me up

It is obvious from the pics that you all had a great time at AK! :goodvibes Sounds like you made a lot of wonderful memories! :)

I honestly think it was the most fun I have ever had there!!!

What a fun AK day. Those character pics are awesome! That meal at RFC was HUGE. Great pics and memories!

Whoa, I missed some updates. This report just gets better and better. My daughters thought the bunny pose pic was adorable.

What a fabulous time at AK :thumbsup2

The interaction with Goofy was hilarious, and the "kids" were having so much fun! I do chuckle everytime you refer to "the kids" because my mom still calls us "the kids" and my brothers and I are all in our 30's and two of us have kids of our own - I'm sure I'll be doing the same when my girls are teens and beyond too :goodvibes

I totally get not taking any pics during FOTLK - I did the same thing with that and Finding Nemo, I just wanted to sit back and enjoy, and we did :)

It's so great that you were able to still enjoy it all even with iffy weather! Can't wait to hear about the rest of the day! (Although I'm guessing it won't be tonight since there is a big hockey game on - hopefully its not as nerve-wracking as the Swiss game!)

What a fun AK day. Those character pics are awesome! That meal at RFC was HUGE. Great pics and memories!

Thanks Mary....it brings a smile to my face everytime I think about it!! I put it in my notebook (I know, a little OCD) to remember that at Rainforest we definitely need to share a meal....if I don't write it down, by next trip I'll forget:confused3

Whoa, I missed some updates. This report just gets better and better. My daughters thought the bunny pose pic was adorable.

Thank you so much, I am having so much fun writing it and re-living the memories!! How old are your daughters?

What a fabulous time at AK :thumbsup2

Jasmine asked why I kept saying "the kids" and it made me stop and think...and all I could come up with is..."that's what you are to me"....I guess I'm just hanging onto their youth:rolleyes: I definitely can't do a post tonight while the hockey game is on....but maybe I can get it done before hand :) That Swiss game just about did me in....it was a nail biter....GO CANADA GO!!!!

Ok, I am standing by my commitment and getting the rest of our Animal Kingdom day posted, because once that hockey game comes on I can't concentrate on anything else:banana: We are a hockey loving family:worship:

Ok, on with the post....after our wonderful, fun time with the characters it was time to head over to It's Tough to be a Bug...we didn't see this show on our last two trips, mostly because my 2 nieces are terrified of bugs (their mother doesn't help with this as that's where they get their fear) so we have skipped it. I was quite excited to get in there and see it again...and the sadistic side of me wanted to see Aladdin jump a few times:rolleyes1

242-1.jpg

We headed over to get in line for the show and I thought I would try and grab a couple of shots along the way. I think it is absolutely beautiful....the carvings are beyond amazing...I had to also take this opportunity to share with Aladdin that they used an oil rig as the structure for it and he couldn't believe it. I told him I have a 2 hours DVD at home all about that kind of stuff....he said "that's ok, you can just tell me about it":scared1:did he really just say that...what is up with not wanting to watch a WDW DVD....clearly we still have some work to do on that boy:rolleyes1
243-1.jpg

...with that response, I made them stop for another picture....you know how they love this
244-1.jpg

I loved how he did this all on his own....maybe there is hope...he truly found the tree magnificent.
245-1.jpg

247-1.jpg

I told the kids to do their best bug impersonations...apparently, Jasmine had been hit with Raid...and was losing her mind:lmao: I do love this picture though...that's my crazy girl
248-1.jpg

Expedition Everest....truly out favorite ride at this park. I do miss the Yeti moving though, I thought that was the coolest thing....but safety first I guess, no one needs the Yeti toppling on them now do we?
249-1.jpg

Yup...one last picture before we headed for 3 more rides on EE....they did 3 I did one....the thought of three makes me a little sick just thinking about it.
251-1.jpg

It was now time to return to the hotel because we were having a very important Dis-meet at DTD on this evening. I asked Jas and Aladdin if they wanted to eat at the hotel or go to DTD early and eat there...they both said DTD...they were in love with Wolfgang Puck Express and who was I to argue, I love that place. We went to the room and grabbed our hoodies because once that sun went down it was even cooler!!

We headed to the bus and were at the restaurant in no time. I was craving the chicken caesar salad...it did not disappoint! It is heaven on a plate, I'm sure it's 2000 calories too, but I honestly didn't care, I ate the whole thing. Aladdin had the quesadilla with a side of the garlic mashed potatoes which he proclaimed the best potatoes he has even eaten and Jasmine had the spaghetti which she loved!!! Everything is so delicious there, I would have eaten there everyday if I could have. Next trip, I am dying to try breakfast!

Our dis-meet was schedule for 7pm and as we were finishing up it was indeed 7pm. We were meeting Hypermommy and I couldn't wait!!! We have been friends on the boards for 3 years now and I couldn't believe I was actually going to meet her! I had to keep reminding myself that I had never met her, because, as you all know, it feels like we've been friends forever!!!

We had decided to meet at the Margarita Bar (I know you're all shocked by that) and have a drink and just visit! As we walked up, I saw her standing there texting, and I knew it was me she was texting!! I just walked up and stood in front of her and when she looked up we just hugged each other harder than you can imagine.....I felt like I had finally found my long lost friend and I can't tell you how happy I was.

We each got a pina colada, I don't think the kids got anything to drink, but I can't remember. We sat and visited for 2 hours and I couldn't believe it when I looked at my watch and it was just after 9pm. I knew she had an hours drive to get home and she had to work in the morning....but I really didn't want the evening to end!! I put my selfishness aside and we all said our goodbyes, knowing on our next trip we would see her again. I did have a tear in my eye as I watched her walk away, she is truly the funniest, kindest, most interesting person....we loved her!!! Aladdin and Jasmine thought she was awesome!!! They were in awe of her southern accent.....it was awesome, they were dead on!!! As we left each other and we were heading to the bus, Jasmine looked at me and said "I'm not ready to go back to the hotel". Well ok then, what would we do now? I do love DTD so I was up for anything. Well apparently, those 2 had been conspiring before we left that evening and they decided they wanted Ghirardelli's....and who am I to argue.

A young man at the table next to us volunteered to take a picture so we could all be in it, but let me tell you, he was 2 sheets to the wind and then some...thus the quality of the picture lol...oh well he meant well!!!

Jasmine and I each had a gold rush sundae and I believe Aladdin had the hot fudge sundae...I needed the coffee to keep me warm as I ate my ice cream...everything was so delicious....a perfect ending to the most perfect day!!!!

UP NEXT.....MK
