I was thinking the same thing about Mona. I hope things are OK.

Bobbiwoz Hope you are better. Safe travels.

Lynn I know I am fortunate to have my sons to ask for decision making. But I am one who does not like to ask for help so it has been a challenge for me. I am learning!
@bobbiwoz - take your time and don't stress. Hope you feel better.

@lynxstch @easyas123

Maybe Mona has a phone issue? Hopefully she is ok and will post soon.

Good morning…we travel north today, just to Emporia, VA. I am having issues, so delaying or departure as long as I can.
Hope everything calms down for you and you have a safe trip back up north.

Maybe Mona has a phone issue? Hopefully she is ok and will post soon.
Oh - that's a good possibility!

🐥❤️Thank you all so much. I'm okay. Long day and night yesterday and important final plan discussions while my dad was visiting me today. God-willing I promise to post early tomorrow morning and by sometime later have a final update as far as my decision on leaving this place or being able to stay in a way that would be positive and beneficial. Dad and I have agreed on our next step which will be determined by mid afternoon tomorrow. We both feel more at peace having a clearer way forward.

Connectivity is a daily issue here. I often have to turn my wifi off and then back on to make a call. My phone often automatically goes to voicemail without ringing. Notifications can be delayed too. It's a facility issue depending where you are in it. I am so grateful to God to have a phone and my beloved Dad first and foremost along with all of you my Quacker family through Christ to reach out to and check in and on with. Love and sweet dreams, everyone.

Mona Thank you for the update. We care about you and your path forward. It is nice that you have agreement on what your next step is based on discussions with the facility. :grouphug:

Bobbiwoz I hope you are doing better and had safe travels.

Pea Thinking of you.

Good morning. It is 42 now with temps going to the low 50s. Definitely a chill in the air. I had the water softener installed yesterday. I am so glad I went with the guy who installed it. It is a family company and he and his son do the work. He did a great job and is very good with information about the system and answering any questions. He left enough salt for 6-7 months. Kenny will help me reload the salt when needed. He said to call with any further questions or issues. I do need an electric outlet put in nearer to the system. He said in this complex that is always needed. He has installed about 40 systems here. He has an electrician he works with so he gave him my name and number to call me for an appt. A neighbor a few doors down had her outlet installed yesterday and said the electrician is great. So now I have an electrician name to add to my list. Right now there is a long extension cord going to an outlet on the other side of the basement.

So glad it is Friday. Not sure what will be going on this weekend. I do have a hair appt tomorrow morning. I may go to Ethan's soccer game tomorrow afternoon. I can get a ride with Kenny as it is an away game. I need to see when Jeff is available if at all this weekend.

Have a good day.

... With winter approaching one of my top features is a heated steering wheel. May sound silly but it's been on my last two and I don't like to go backwards. I've just found it's not randomly on most models but on specific ones. Leather and heated seats also but much easier to find. Safety features are much more standard now where everything beeps at you. I've gotten used to this and not going back. Drove DD's 2013 Honda and no beeps! Good thing I was super careful.
I think the Honda CRV Hybrid Sport Touring model comes with a heated steering wheel and heated, leather seats. A friend has one and loves it.
... I am looking into having Kenny install a reverse osmosis system just under the kitchen sink for that water.
We had a reverse osmosis system installed about 10 years ago. Love it! Use it for drinking and cooking. The kettle boils much cleaner now -- no mineral deposits to clean up!

That is right now the primary model I am considering. You have to go almost top of the line to get the feature on any car.

I think it's really helped with arthritis in my hands.

Another cool start to the day, 35 now going to 54.

It's getting scary the way people are driving on this long stretch of road.

That was across the street from my house. I was out in the back and heard a bang, but didn't think anything of it until I went to the living room and saw cars lined up in the street. I looked out and that's what I saw. Some lady (claims she hit a hole, but there are no holes or storm gulley's on that side of the road), and took out 3 mailboxes, then went through the parking lot of the bldg, and somehow ended up hitting the elec pole. No one can figure out how she got anywhere near the pole facing that direction. The pole is cracked, but it doesn't look like the electric company is going to do anything about it. I don't think it affected the wires, because the power didn't even flash off at all. There were no other cars involved. I could see inside and no airbags were deployed. The driver was fine, but the younger girl hit the windshield (which you can see), and refused treatment, despite having a large gash on her forehead with a flap of skin showing.
The little boys next door came running over holding a mailbox (their mother had gone across the street and picked them up) and asked if it was mine. Mine is in a locked cluster box across the street in the other direction. So it was her mailbox, the guy next door to her, and the one for the business that's in the bldg she drove through the parking lot of.
The 2 people in the car were sitting in chairs against that bldg waiting for a ride. Come to find out, it's the Aunt of the neighbor next door who was driving. Anyhow, one sheriff car left, the firetrucks and ambulance left, and 1 sheriff stayed to wait until the people's ride came. An hour later they were still all sitting out there, so the sheriff put them in his car and took them wherever.

That's 2 accidents dangerously close to my house in the last month, after not having any accidents out here in a couple of years.

Off to get laundry and chores done. Have a good day.

Thank you dear Bobbi and safe travels prayers always, my friend.

I was sure praying to be able to share a positive update tonight. Instead, it appears as though the one person who both personally and recovery wise has impacted my life here most has betrayed me. Plain sad and of course heart hurting especially for my beloved Dad. Please pray for his well-being. I will be able to share more specifics over the next few days. It looks likely I will be going home very soon. I have not officially made this known yet. Waiting to work out more details with my Dad. Probably will notify this place on Monday unless a miracle occurs. My going home right now is NOT ideal or what either my Dad or I want but what is at this moment. No blame just awfulness all around and 100%+ recovery hindering. But by the grace of God go I. I absolutely know He has this and me.

Related but separate, have any of dear you ever seen or purchased a small office chair with a wheel lock function so it can't move? Dad and I are trying to think of better ways besides a regular folding chair to get me safely into our bathroom at home. I am not yet safe enough to enter and exit with my walker needing to do so on an angle at that before immediately turning forward. Thanks friends and as forever for you and your love and prayers. Sweet dreams.

Lynn, what an awful thing to see! Sounds like the girl who hit her head should’ve gone to the ER for a head CT at least!

I used to have a heated steering wheel in my Jeep. I loved that thing on cold winter mornings. But my mother couldn’t climb up into it anymore so I had to pass it over to DH and get a crossover and though it is nicely equipped, it doesn’t have a heated steering wheel. 😬 DH likes to tease me about it, lol.

Mona, anxious to hear what’s happening! Just saw your update. I’m sorry it’s not what you wanted and that you still face challenges in your walking. I’m sorry you’re hurting. Sending a hug and keeping you and your Dad in my prayers.

Bobbi, glad you’re enjoying your travels. I agree with how beautiful it’s been out. I have to go out to treatment every day now but I couldn’t have picked a better time of year to do it. Foliage is beautiful and it’s been sunny and mild out.

Snowysmom, glad you got your water taken care of. Thanks for the good wishes. I hope you’re feeling better.

Easyas, I’m still working on my room, too. I mainly have just the closet left to do. I saw this the other day and thought of all of us here, saved it to post. Seems like kind of a tall order, lol.

Doing ok w radiation. Fatigued and getting a little burnt, feels like a bad sunburn. Tonight I’m keeping one of the soft bras on and I put some cream on they gave me and some telfa pads over it which don’t stick. The techs told me to really slather it on over the weekend. Have met some really nice people there. Tomorrow we’re bringing a crockpot meal to SIL who had surgery, all she’ll have to do is plug it in. We made it the other night on a trial run and it came out good, it’s turkey with a cranberry/maple/apple glaze and we added a bunch of vegetables too, served with turkey stuffing and cranberry sauce. And we made a pumpkin bread. DS is coming over Sunday to hang out, his gf is working and the kids are going w their Dad. So looking forward to that. He’ll help DH around the house too to get some fall clean up done and things readied for winter. It’s hard to believe we’re almost into November. I wish it was still summer so I could enjoy it - this year was all just a blur to me. Not really ready to tackle the holidays. After radiation ends I have to recover and then start a new medication in December that is likely going to cause some side effects. Planning to go easy on myself after all this, which started back in January, believe it or not! Been a long year.

Wishing everyone has a nice weekend. 🐥🍂

Pea Glad to hear your treatments are going along and you have met some good people along the way. That crock pot turkey sounds delicious. Do you have a recipe? I love to make something over the weekend and eat all week. Hoping the cream works well for your sore skin.

Mona So sorry you did not get the resolution you wanted and needed. As far as an office chair goes maybe Staples or Amazon can help with choices. Thoughts and prayers for you and your Dad.

Good morning. It is 37 with temps heading to mid 50s. I have a hair appt at 9 and then going to see Ethan's soccer game. It is an away game so I am hitching a ride with Kenny. Tomorrow afternoon I go to see Jeff and family. I made up some little Halloween bags for the kids with candy and a book for each. My water softener seems to be running well. Already I am less itchy. They have counter top reverse osmosis systems that I may look into. That way I don't have to worry about cutting into the water supply under the sink. I really worry about leaks.

Have a good Saturday.

Another cool fall day. 34 now going to 56. I'm glad I turned the heat on or the house would feel like a refrigerator when I get up in the morning.

Mona, it's time for you to get out of there. You've been there since Feb (?), and we're getting close to November, so almost 10 months. I know you've made great strides since you arrived there, and it's time for you to get used to living at home again. You've run into nothing but brick walls in that place over your care, and you can figure out something for when you get home, maybe some home health care for awhile, until you're settled again. Your poor Dad has been alone all that time, and it's been as much of a struggle for him as it has been for you. I know he wants you to be home with him. So take each day as it comes when you get home, get stronger and stronger, and you'll both feel much better and much more comfortable. You know me by now, I tell you what I think you need to hear because I care, we all do.

Off to do a couple of errands. Have a good day everyone

This is the recipe. We thought for SIL it would just be easy as she’s post operative, that’s what caught my eye about it.

We tweaked it a little. We did as instructed but then added vegetables - two skinned potatoes, chopped, two large carrots, chopped and half a container of Brussels sprouts, halved - put those in about four hours into cooking. (We did at three hours and they were a little hard - and ours DD had on high for two hours then low for four). Then we added half of a half of butternut squash, chopped (around same size as potatoes, rather large), half an onion, thick sliced, and two cloves of garlic chopped at the three hour mark, today we’ll add half a bag of string beans then, too (I do love and missed my string beans).

We used the liquid to baste the vegetables and turkey (though I think the basting caused the turkey not to be browned). Don’t take the netting off the turkey and it will be sliceable (DD did as I had to go to treatment, she didn’t know not to).

ALDI’s had these turkey breasts this week ($10), and they came with a gravy packet (which we didn’t use, but it’s an option). We made turkey stuffing on the side and served with whole cranberry sauce. Enjoy!

You all are making me hungry 😋!

I’m making a pot roast tomorrow, in the crockpot.

I’m off to hang a few things on the line, leave for my massage appointment and after that the rumors are the the royal We are headed up to Cabelas cause “we” need a new seat for our tree stand.
