Thank you dear Lucky Rabbit for the smile. Hooray for tasty ice cream dear Snowysmom. You are going to have a wonderful time :)

Thank God I did get more sleep than Friday night. What happened last night and in the wee hours of this morning....just falls in line with sadly how this place operates.

Have a happy day everyone. I will check back later.

Good morning. Hard to believe we're halfway through the year already, Happy June! Their forecast of 'a chance of showers', turned into another day of nothing but downpours and high winds. I've really had it with this weather. Today is supposed to be sunny with zero chance of rain, and a high of 69. I did some light cleaning yesterday, then finished watching "You", on Netflix and started another show.

I got an email from Amazon that the door handle won't be here until Wednesday, how the heck can it be in Baltimore, 1 1/2 hours away and take another 4 days to get here? I went to Lowes and found a comparable handle which I hope we can make work by using parts from the one that's on the door now. I needed something in case Dave shows up today to do the gutter and fix the handle, I can't ask him to come back a second time just for the handle. I could do it myself if it was an exact replacement, but if we have to fiddle with it, I'm not bothering. That's what I get for buying an expensive door. I looked at the same door in Lowes last night and it's now $200 more than it was when I bought it 2 years ago.

Have a good day everyone

My sister and her Sweetie, Garry, had lunch with us today, at the Blue Pig, and they stopped by our house afterwards for Ice cream. It was a very nice day. Tom and I try to make time to walk around the block each day, and we did that. We learned that a neighbor will be selling, and moving a few miles away. Brenda is here only part time, but she’s getting ready to retire and wants a larger forever home, and she found one on the canal. She gave us the address, and we think she really found a winner. We are happy for her, and it’s not that far, so it won’t be like we won’t see her anymore!

We’ll be traveling to Ohio with Gus’s cremains later this week, so we are looking forward to seeing former neighbors and good friends.

Goodnight. Praying for peaceful nights for everyone.

Good morning. It is a chilly one at 46 with temps going into the upper 60s today. Wed it is supposed to be in the upper 80s. I guess summer is making an appearance. I have salt therapy today so looking forward to that. This is my busy week at work. Starting early today.

Have a good day.

Happy Anniversary dear Bobbi! I pray you and Tom enjoy greater health and many more great and small moments and adventures together. God Bless You both.

Good Morning dear friends,

Am I ever blessed to have enjoyed a wonderful night sleep! Last night God had an understanding nursing supervisor have a sweet young charge nurse at my station change my new roommate M's oxygen machine to one that doesn't make noise. Peace! That is a huge relief.

There is one health and hygiene issue with M that seems to keep happening that I will do my best to resolve today. I still may need a new roommate because my health is at risk. I don't want to share details because they don't make for pleasant reading. I will just say this involves bodily fluids and leave it at that.

I keep this M in prayer. She had a hard day yesterday with breathing and throwing up. Old M is still in the hospital. Prayers, of course, for her, too. This M, Me, sends an extra hug to all of you :)

Good morning. Sunny and 52 heading for 75. Warming up tomorrow and 90 by Wednesday. No rain in sight until Friday.

Dave was here yesterday and replaced the door handle. As I suspected, we had to use parts from the old one to make the new one fit, but as long as it works, I'm good. He also found the issue with the gutter. He brought his big ladder so he could get above it. He says 'Wow, these gutters are full of water'. Did he think I was kidding when I told him? He moved the ladder down to the end where it's been flowing over into the yard and took off one of the leaf guard things. The downspout was totally clogged, he thinks from all the pouring rain, the pollen, and the little things that fall off the maple trees on the other side of the yard, that it got through the guards and piled up and created a clog that wouldn't wash down. He used the hose and and washed everything out, then we pour some Clorox in them and let it sit a little while he did the door handle, and then rinsed it all down well so no bacteria and stuff build up. Should be good to go. All of the junk came gushing out and water was flowing as it should. That will be a relief the next time it rains.

Lily texted me last night that they're already looking for another place to move to. They don't have a written lease (big mistake, which I warned her about) and the landlord keeps saying he can throw them out on their ear anytime he wants. He also told her she could have her cats, now says unless they're kept outside, she has a month to get rid of them. I think he just wanted someone that would clean and paint the house inside, (which he was supposed to pay for the materials and didn't) and now he's looking for a reason to get rid of them. Says they aren't getting back their security deposit. I told her to take him to small claims court. The place is clean, nothing is broken, rent is up to date, and he has no reason to withhold it. She also found out that it's way too far away from town, so it takes her longer to get to work, etc. We tried to tell her all these things but they were in such a hurry to move out that they didn't listen. Live and learn.

Waiting for the lawn to dry out so I can mow while the temps aren't too hot.

Have a good day

@lynxstch, I am sorry Lily is going through this…I hope she gets something resolved in her favor. Your handyman, Dave, is very good!

I am having a setback, and we are delaying our trip at least by a day. Reminder to myself, recovery is not a straight line.

Thinking of you all, and hoping for good news here.

Lynn, I don’t now what state Lily is in, but here in MA a landlord is required to keep security deposit and last month’s rent in an escrow account and if it’s not given back then the renter can collect triple damages.

https://www.mass.gov/info-details/security-deposits-and-last-months-rent

He can’t just willy nilly decide not to give it back.

I actually had to play this game in our last apt when we bought our house. The landlord was a lawyer, too. I cut out an article in the paper about it (this was the 80s) and gave it to him about the triple damages. He promptly gave us both back when he’d been planning on keeping them.

Bobbi I hope you are feeling better soon. Days wax and wane, don’t they? Happy Anniversary, too.

Mona, generally if someone wants to switch rooms it’s the person requesting that moves, not asking for someone else to be moved. I get the body fluids and all that. Unfortunately that’s the problem with double rooms. Sometimes there are single rooms but if insurance only covers a double room, the person wanting the single room can be charged. (Where I work we have all single rooms now, but previously I have worked in places with both double rooms and wards!)

Think of it this way. Say your Dad, God forbid, had to go into this rehab/nursing home, because he was ill. He’s put into a room, but the person who’s been in there doesn’t like something about him - maybe it’s that he yells out at night, or he’s incontinent, or he has equipment that makes noise, etc. And that roommate then says he wants your Dad to be moved somewhere else. How would you feel? Would it upset you? It would upset me! So let’s say he then gets put into another room to make the roommate happy. But now the new roommate there wants him moved, too. See where this is going?

If you’re unhappy in a room you can request that you be moved, if they can accommodate that, but it’s really not fair to ask that someone else be removed from the room. It’s not something I’ve ever seen done, either, unless it’s the person requesting the move who moves. Hopefully you get home soon and walking and this can all be behind you.

@Pea-n-Me Thanks for the info. She's in WV.

I just looked it up for that state, and it says --

Timeline for Returning

The landlord must return the deposit within the shorter of 60 days after the tenancy terminates or 45 days after the next tenant occupies the premises.

Claims Process

When returning the deposit, landlords must provide a written, itemized statement detailing any deductions from the security deposit within the timeline above. This statement should list the damages or charges deducted from the deposit and the corresponding cost for each item.

Since there was no written lease, there's no expected tenancy period.

Not my mess to clear up, lol. At least she's learned that she needs a written lease for the next place the find.

Tenant's Rights:
If a landlord fails to return the deposit or provide an itemized list, the tenant may be able to recover up to twice the amount of the deposit, plus attorney's fees

@Pea-n-Me, thank you for your well wishes! You certainly share so much information with us here, it’s wonderful what you do. How are you today!?

We have cancelled the Berkeley Springs WV part of our trip. We get Roman baths and then therapeutic massages. I think I better wait!
