Happy September! 🍂

Feels like September but not for too long. I was going to turn the AC off yesterday but then noticed that it's supposed to get back to the upper 80's in a couple of days. Might as well keep it on. 🫤

We enjoyed our chicken dinner at the festival yesterday. We hit up the little country store booth and we all bought bread (zucchini or cranberry), cookies, brownies, and I talked Mitchell into buying a strawberry/rheubarb crisp. Then we ate lunch. I just had some of the cranberry bread this morning. Yum! 😊

Our side of town's little fair starts this weekend, the parade to kick it off is Thursday night. My sister and I put our chairs out along the route yesterday. We normally do it Tuesday night or Wednesday morning but since we now have such a big group that goes, we put them out earlier.

The foster dog is still at my house. My grass guy came Sunday to cut the grass and he was playing with the dogs. He said he would ask one of his clients if they are interested 🤞. If not, I'm going to contact a couple of the local shelters and ask if they would take him on but I will keep him as a foster. I just need help getting him noticed.

Guess I should get back to work, have a great day!

Definitely feels like fall. Went down to 47 overnight, it's 50 now. Going to be mid 70's. It was beautiful yesterday. I mowed and did the trimming, washed off the deck, and last night I grilled and ate out there. It could stay just like this all year and I'd be happy.

It was one of those weird holidays. Everyone was outside, mowing, trimming, running chain saws, closing pools, washing cars. No one seemed to be relaxing, lol. I kept thinking it was Sunday, so I'll feel like I'm a day off all week.

Have a lovely first Tuesday of September

@tazdev3225, you do need extra hugs! :flower3:

Chilly 59° when I woke this morning. Our pool closes Sept 15. That’s the day we get home from next week’s vacation. We have a Halloween cruise on the Magic, and then a two night stay at BWV. We are going to MK for a Halloween party as well!

Meanwhile, enjoying a few water hyacinths. Soon the pond will loose the foliage cover!

They say getting some early morning sunlight helps set your circadian rhythm.
I've found that a few minutes in the sun in the AM daily (when I can manage it) does a world of good for me.
Our project is coming along
Sounds like it is really taking shape!
Thankfully in 2 weeks I will be heading to DIsney World and Ella is going with me. I can spend that time having some conversations with her about everything that has been going on, so she understands the situation more clearly.
I could talk to my grandmother about anything & everything, she's been gone for over 25 years now and I still think back frequently on our conversations & times together. You are giving Ella a gift that will stay with her a lifetime.

We weren't going to turn ours off but then we noticed how nice the breeze was so we opened up the house. It got so cool overnight my husband shut the doors in the bedroom in the middle of the night! We are only supposed to get up to about 80 on Thursday or Friday but the humidity is going to go up. We will see if we can muddle thru, although I'm sure we will be turning it on eventually again before being done with it for the season!

Oh my goodness - wasn't yesterday just a beautiful day out?

Well good day to everyone. I've been keeping up, reading along. Just don't have to much new to report on. We are staying busy-busy-busy. Work has been super busy, and we always seem to have a lot going on in Sept & October. Husband put in two fields of turnups this weekend, and we have had such a success with our small field of pumpkins that we have decided to do a big field next year...mind you, we don't have any plans for them - I just enjoy growing them! We've got several varieties at the moment. Two or three of those giant ones (I hope they don't rot before they get done growing) lots and lots of different gourds and regular pumpkins, and those cool blue (cinderella?) pumpkins. And a Seminole pumpkin that we brought back from Florida last spring! Somehow kept the plant alive and it started growing. Those are a very deep, dark green. Anyway. It's just for fun but I enjoy it. The patio area around our pool is getting poured tomorrow so that project will finally be done. I need to get a pool cover - but I'm looking forward to not having half a back yard as dirt anymore. There is dirt everywhere and I'm itching to be able to clean it all up and have it stay clean.
Soon the pond will loose the foliage cover!
We saw someone on a TV gardening program with a beautiful koi pond. I know nothing about them or keeping the fish or the plants happy but I'm thinking it may be something I look into in the future. It just seems so peaceful. When we move in the next few years I may incorporate that into my new backyard budget.

Welp, eldest son is officially married, and I officially have two daughter in laws. Lovely young women, both of them. So we enter the 'new in-law' period of our lives with the attitude that the boys are going to be putting these ladies first (rightly so, I think their first responsibility should be their spouse) and not to put any pressure on them over holidays and who goes where or does what. We are going to try to be go with the flow in-laws and put forth a no drama attitude.

We did have a foster dog for a short period of time, only about 2 weeks until he went up the road. Cute, playful 1 year old bulldog. But our dogs were ready to have their home back, as were we.

Looks like we are headed to Florida at the end of the month. We are going to take one of the boats down to my father, stopping at two jobsites in North Carolina on the way down. Probably will stay 4 or 5 days before we head home. I'm about tired of driving to Florida, but he's itching to have his old sailboat down there and he's got a extra lift on his dock so we offered to haul it down for him. It's small enough, just a day boat called a sandbagger - so no need to have it shipped. We will need to rent a telehandler and have it delivered to his house so we can set the mast for him, but that won't take long. No solid plans for our time down there except I think we are going to go to the Ford Edison estate/museum again and I'm hoping to get a chance to take my husband to the Koreshan Site/State Park which I stumbled upon by accident last year.

No other travel scheduled until some work trips to San Diego and the Caymans in Feb & March of next year. I hate not having a trip planned somewhere! I gotta get something planned ha ha!!

Lets see, what else is happening around here???? Oh - we are getting a new Target opening next month, and next to it a store I'm unfamiliar with called Sprouts. Oh and I've started interviewing folks to take over my position, I've got two more interviews on Thursday, and unless they blow me out of the water I think I'm going to offer the position to a gentlemen I interviewed last week. This is accomplish two things - #1 and most important whomever I hire to replace me will have a lot more education and knowledge than me to bring to the Company and that will benefit our employees more than me staying put in the job and #2 -it will free me up to do more community driven projects. We are trying to have more of a community presence, and we are going to offer a scholarship for HS grads looking to train in a trade, so I'm working on getting that started.

Nothing terribly excited planned for this upcoming weekend. It's supposed to rain on Saturday, and my husband may be out of town so I may tackle getting rid of some clothes and clearing out my closets. I have a few things we need to put on Ebay as well, stuff we've been meaning to get rid of for months but just haven't gotten around to yet.

Well, speaking of work - I have a teams meeting in 4 minutes and I go first, so I'd better sign off here. Have a great week everyone.

Amen about grandparents dear Easyas and so well and wisely said, my friend. My own grandparents sure meant a ton to me. Thank you always and dear Footballmouse you as well for the loving care you give many dogs. Congratulations to both of your sons!

Oh and Sprouts is the store I mention often. It's a less expensive Whole Foods/similar to Trader Joes. We have all 3 stores here. My daily favorite applesauce is Sprouts Brand Original in the jar not pre made cups. Should you, any of dear you, fellow Quackers, try this I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Safe, healthy, and fun upcoming travel to all!

Good morning. It is 49 degrees here right now with temps going into the 70s today. It is supposed to be a bit warmer than yesterday. I really like the cool mornings. Yesterday was a busy work day. Then I walked at the lake. I did have my therapist appt and interestingly we both thought taking a break from therapy is a good idea. She broached the topic and I went with it. I feel good about it. I may touch base with my old therapist if I need a tune up. My NH friend and I are waiting for a bus tour to Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island to become available for booking for next June. We keep watching the website. I like that we do not have to fly anywhere, it leaves out of NH. I don't have a Disney trip planned for next year as I have one trip to Sedona reserved and 2 trips pending booking. I may fit in a few nights in Sept next year especially if I retire at the end of August. Not sure if it will be August or October or later. I have to get plans on what I will be doing in place.

Have a good day.

Me too! I'd open all the windows if the guys weren't so allergic.

First day of school around here today: waxing nostalgic about neighborhood pictures and first-day cakes when DS was little.

I watch the twins today, so I'm looking forward to picking them up and hearing all about their new teachers!

I love all your trip plans dear Snowysmom. May they all indeed be wonderful adventures. Both of your therapists sound like great people. I love that your new therapist reacted in such am encouraging way as well she should. Enjoy the 70s. It's going to be near and at 100 here for the rest of the week. Dad and I are keeping in prayer hearing back from Sonia today regarding setting up an appointment for someone to finally come out and test for mold. God willing update to come later today.

God Bless the twins dear PollyannaMom and you for all the loving care you give them. They are so blessed to have you as a friend and teacher.

Wednesday hug with love to all.

Good morning. I'm another one who put an extra blanket on the bed last night, but I also had the windows open 1/2 way. It was so cool this morning, I had to put on a pair of leggings and a sweatshirt to feed the cats and take the trash down. Going to be 73 today. I'm waiting for Summer to get here. We're going to do some errands and shopping, and then some groceries.

This weather is supposed to last until the middle of the month at least, and I love it!

Have a great day everyone

Wow have a fun 🛳️dear Bobbi and with a group of friends, that will be a special adventure indeed.

No word today from Sonia--maybe tomorrow. All is quiet around here right now. Have a good evening friends:grouphug:
That cruise is a bit more than a year away!

Did a bit of garden work, sprucing up the day lilies. Those stems don’t come off until they are ready!

Bobbiwoz Your cruise sounds like fun. I want to take that cruise itinerary but out of Boston. I am looking at 2026 for that.

Good morning. It is a bit warmer this morning at 53 and going into the 70s again. I am so glad to not have to drive into the office today. I got to sleep in a bit, until 5. My car will be happy too. I did walking around the condo complex yesterday as well as a few errands. Today will be pretty much the same. Tomorrow night I signed up for a workshop on anxiety which includes getting a custom made essential oil to help with anxiety. The workshop is at the place where I do salt therapy. I am looking forward to getting out and learning some ideas on lessening anxiety.

Off to work. Have a good day.

The kids I watch had a good first day. 😎 He says his teacher is "fine" (but I could tell he came home in a good mood) and she says hers is "awesome" and gave them Smarties!

Today is just errands and house stuff. I might dig out some fall stuff so it's ready when the mood strikes.

Good morning :)
I’ll be making pork stew later, and I think we will get flu shots today. We, with DSis and her honey will probably go to the pool for a bit this afternoon! Yesterday we went around 4 and we were the only ones in the pool, it was delightful.
Gus goes to vet to have his ears checked to be sure the medicine fixed his problem.
Good day!

Hug dear Snowysmom and I'm grateful you don't have to drive into work today. May the workshop be fun and bring you comfort.

Hug dear PollyannaMom and God Bless the kiddos all kiddos and teachers, too, including, of course, you. How kind that the teacher began the school on a literal sweet note, I love that.

Gus prayers dear Bobbi. Enjoy your swim (sounds so refreshing) and extra time with your family.

Thursday hug to all. It was a longer, warm night. What an extra blessing to breath in this new day. Dad will be doing some morning shopping and we're expecting Aquafina and a few other things from Ralphs via Boost and Instacart this afternoon. Have a happy day friends.

Happy Thursday.:sunny:

Back into the upper 80's for the next couple of days. I might be able to turn the AC off this weekend.🤞

Snowysmom - hope you enjoy the workshop tomorrow. Sounds like it will be a very calming and soothing experience.

Bobbiwoz - always great to have the pool to yourself, enjoy! Hope the ear situation clears up for Gus.

Worked from home yesterday so I ran up to Walgreens and got my flu shot and then had my oil checked for the car. My light came on the other day but the timing didn't match up with the sticker they gave me after the last oil change. I was thinking maybe the oil indicator wasn't reset. Sure enough they checked the oil level and that's what it was so I didn't need the oil change after all. Saved me some money!:)

Last week on my paycheck for my weekend job, I noticed it was a little low . When I went to work I checked my paystub and sure enough, the dumb payroll lady didn't add my PTO so I was short a night's pay >:(. Of course my mortgage is due this week so that really makes a difference. I sent an email but I'm sure she'll come back and say it was my fault. I'll have her add my PTO for this pay period so I can "pay back" my savings account.

Went to Evan's soccer game last night. Mia brought her ball so we played ball and read some books that were in her bag. Tonight is the parade so Evan is meeting me there. He has to leave early to get a haircut and then go back to my house. Him and Mitchell are getting a couch for me from my sister so we need to get my old one out for the garbage tonight.

Bosslady just walked in 🫤 so I guess I should do some work. Have a great day!
