Evening thread save! I reached out again this morning to the Dodgers regarding their foundation. I received a nice reply back with a link to a submission for fans with special circumstances to request a gift. I did so in terms of a stadium tour for dad and I. I will let all of you know what I may hear back, it was a blessing simply to reach out. God willing of course dad and I would have the health and feel comfortable going period. One step at a time. I never did hear back from Friday's call to Dr. Y's (podiatrist) office. I will be calling tomorrow morning. I am so praying to be fully recovered by dad's birthday! Thank you all of course for your extra continuing love and prayers. Sweet dreams dear friends.

As one of two P.S. I still have extra blank postcards from the states to follow. Should any of you have travel memories from visiting one of them please PM me asap. Second, and also dad postcard surprise related, is to ask whether any of you sent me (lor know who did send me) a postcard from NH? I received one that contains a few great quotes. I feel badly to admit to forgetting who sent it. I am not positive of the signature on it either :thanks:

I will post this also in the gratitude thread. Just checking here also, thank you:grouphug:

Extra blank postcards: Alaska (2), Idaho, Kansas, Michigan, Montana (3), and New Jersey (1--Dear Bobbi extra XO for all the postcards in general and from your home state you have gotten for me)!

@flyingdumbo127 I hope you hear back from Dr. Y. How nice that you were able to request a stadium tour. I hope it all works out.

We got 2-3 inches of snow here and then some freezing rain. Poor Kenny got to his car after work and it was encased in ice. He had to pound on the door to get it open. They did clear the snow here and put down ice melt. I rescheduled with the trainer and I am glad I did. It was icy out. I try to be very cautious with my knee replacements.

I am a bit nervous about the sump pump going in. I have so many questions. I am sure they know what they are doing but I still second guess it all. I hope they do not need to turn off the electricity as I need to work.

Have a good day.

Good morning.

We got the snow as predicted, the first measurable snow in 715 days. The streak could have kept going. Now the temps are 15 degrees but feel like 4 degrees. My poor dog has not peed in 24 hours. All her spots are covered in snow and/or ice. I am going to try and get to the store for pee pads. She used them in the past so I am hoping she will now, or I may need to take her to the vet. I am amazed that she can hold it in like this, but she did the same thing last year when the work was done on the house. The streets are very icy, and I need to get the grandsons to school today. Jim wants to walk the dog, but I almost went down a couple of times. It amazes me how many people barely shovel and never salt. At least the sun will be out today so hopefully it melts a little, at least on the other side of the street. They get full sun and always clear up quickly. I may have snow until Easter.

@Snowysmom - I wouldn't worry about the sump pump going in, it should really help with the water issues. Not quite the same thing but my church had the same issues in the chapel basement. The building was built in the 1800's before they knew to check water tables. We have a river close by and a major creek 2 blocks away. There are a lot of water tables in the area because of the creek. When it rained water would cascade but we never could figure out where until we had a horrible thunderstorm during a meeting in the building. We graded the perimeter, added French drains and a sump pump. The basement has been dry since then as far as I know. I'm thinking it is as we are converting the building into a nursery school and we couldn't do that if we still had water issues.

Oh well I hope you all stay safe and warm, especially if you are getting this frigid weather

Morning all Cold again, 21 after going down to 11. They're predicting another 1-3"on Friday. If we get it, added to what we've already had, it will probably be more than we got all winter last year. We really had an easy winter last year.
We will only have 1 day above freezing until Sunday. Then temps start climbing and we'll get near 50. Crazy as all get out.
I'm heading out to the grocery store in a few minutes. Have to stop at Lowes, and I want to top off the gas tank and put more dry gas in, just in case

@Snowysmom Good luck with the sump pump

@tazdev3225 I hope your pup uses the pee pads and doesn't need a trip to the vet

Have a good day all, stay warm and safe

Just a quick pop in.

It is still cold out but the ice in the streets at least softened up a bit. I walked Chewie before I went out and still nothing. Got my grandsons to school, went to the grocery and bought the pee pads. Chewie wanted to go out again so I walked her. She still wouldn't go in her usual spots. I even tried pressing on her belly a little bit and nothing. We got to my driveway and all of a sudden she squatted and peed for a good minute. The pee pad will stay down but I feel so relieved.

I was a horrible mom and grandmom last night. I was worried about my pup, trying to get Jim to a doctor's appointment (I rescheduled), schools being delayed, etc. My biggest issue was picking Ella up since she has midterms and she was delayed but my daughter didn't believe me. I just got really angry with them all out of frustration. I like to have my schedule set so I don't have overlapping commitments, especially because it takes an hour to get Ella and I needed to know a time. I did apologize to my daughter and Ella today. They understood my frustration and it was past my bedtime. I don't have to get Ella now as she is waiting for the other mom because of the delay. I may not have to take her tomorrow if there is another delay. She is having midterms this week so she is a little on edge too. I am also worried about Anthony, he sees the surgeon for his knee tomorrow and his neck friday. I am trying really hard not to go to the dark place in my mind and fear the worst. My resolution this year was to try and be more positive but I know the possibilities could be bad. My other daughter has been snippy with me because of her fears, although she will never admit it. I just want this week to be over.

Dinner tonight will be easy, I made a pot of soup yesterday so I will get 2 more meals out of the leftovers. I experimented a bit with spices to replace the salt. It needed salt. My next experiment will be to use a stock instead of water to see if it gives it some depth. What I tried to make was a chili-vegetable soup. We are having a soup/salad/pie lunch at church and of course my mom volunteered me to make a soup but with 10 people bringing soup I need to find something different.

Hope you all are having a good day.

It's funny you bring this up. I was thinking the same thing, but couldn't find the stuffing I wanted at the grocery store last weekend so shelved the idea...you are the second person this morning to mention turkey dinner so I'm thinking the universe is telling me to re-think it! It does sound good!
How was your turkey dinner @easyas123? I’m still craving one again. We had one set aside as leftover but DS offered to clean our cars off yesterday morning without being asked (and boy what a mess they were and a mess outside) so I gave it to him to take to work as a thank you! But now I have none! :lmao: You always have to have leftovers when you have turkey dinners!

I just had a remote doctor’s visit. Decided it was easier with all this ice outside. Went pretty well aside from them never setting it up properly after I requested it. Had the NP instead of my doctor. A lot of typing going on right above the microphone. Explaining how sick I was last month with Covid didn’t even get a response. I guess it’s just par for the course now. :confused3

Headed out locally to do some errands. Sorry to hear about any hardships and offering 🙏 for all.

Have a good Wednesday! 🐥

That doesn't make you a horrible mom & grandmom! That makes you overwhelmed and in need of a break! Can your daughter deal with your granddaughters school needs? An hour away from you doesn't seem practical.

These orthopedic surgeons are great in this day & age - my husband had knee surgery one week before Christmas and just 3 weeks later and he says it's day & night and his healing has been great. My husband has also had major neck surgery and recovered nicely - plus he was a lot older and more banged up than your grandson! Your grandson also has youth and much better physical shape on his side than my husband, so I'm sure his recovery will go smoothly! Kids do really well with bouncing back and physical recovery-plus these days there are great ways for them to stay current with their school work so they don't fall behind. I'll keep him in my thoughts.
How was your turkey dinner @easyas123?
It wasn't, at least not yet! I think that is going to happen this weekend. I've got to go grocery shopping for our niece who will be staying with the pups while we are out of town (I like to leave her with a house full of groceries) and I think I'm going to grab what I need then. Might stop and grab a turkey breast or whole turkey tomorrow if I'm out and about though, I'm thinking I may only find frozen and I'll want to get it thawed out.

Had a interesting offer today....we were approached about leasing some of our property to a solar facility. I'm sure than would look ugly as hell and p/o the neighbors. It would be lucrative though. We may ruminate over it. Lots more information needed is a understatement.

The issue with my granddaughter is the school is only about 13 miles away but the route to get there is about an hour because of the way to get there. Congested highways are the only way to get there, and they have speed cameras so you cannot go over the speed limit. I actually use cruise control on my car even though I hit a lot of redlights in spots. I got a ticket for speeding even though I was attempting to pass a car going very slowly and dropped to the speed limit immediately. My daughter does pick Ella and the other 3 kids up twice a week, I just get them on Thursday or occasionally another day depending on my daughter's work schedule. We have Ella in a carpool so it isn't that bad, but this week is midterms, and the kids are on different schedules some days, so the other driver takes her son according to his schedule. There are 2 other boys in the carpool, but their parents do not help at all which is irritating. The school she attends is one of the 2 top schools in the city, 5 top schools in the state and nationally ranked but it is in a HORRIBLE neighborhood. They were on lockdown last week due to a shooting 2 blocks away. She is getting a great education, 98% (or higher) of the graduates go to college and most of them with scholarships.

Anthony tore his ACL for the second time, and he's an athlete, so he is worried he will never be able to play baseball again. The recovery process is very long and painful, worse than a knee replacement which he has to look forward to, probably in his 30's. The neck is worrisome because it is a lymph node that keeps swelling. They want to take it out but of course they give you all the possible scenarios, including cancer.

Well, the black cloud continues to hang over my family. My dad fell and hurt his hip. Mom won't take him to the hospital, or even the doctors, til tomorrow MAYBE!!! I told her he needs to get X-Rayed to rule out a fracture, but she feels he doesn't need that yet. I should be used to this by now. Eight years ago, ironically in the same type of weather we are having and this time of year, dad fell down the front steps. She waited all weekend to take him to the hospital. He had a fractured wrist, fractured vertebrae and a concussion, plus he had cancer at the time. That explains why my fractured finger was treated with popsicle sticks without seeing a doctor. Stitches were never gotten, she just made "butterfly stitches" out of Band-Aids or adhesive tape.

My Disney trip cannot come soon enough!

Tom got the OK to travel, so we will be at WDW January 27-February 3. We had additional dates in the beginning, but we rented the reservation. This way Gus will be in the kennel for a week. Tomorrow we will bring Gus to the specialist.

@tazdev3225 , I hope your dad is OK.

Thankfully, we only had a slight bit of snow….it warmed enough so by yesterday morning there was none. Then yesterday it poured and was windy, today it was just very cold. I stayed in except to feed the birds. Our shed door is frozen, and so we can’t get more bird food until it thaws. Tomorrow it should get to 40° so, we should get it opened or will buy some for them. Do have two suet cakes out there, and we have more of those handy.

Goodnight!

Thank you, @flyingdumbo127 !
Your Dad’s birthday is soon:cake: You have been preparing for a long time! The stadium tour would be icing on the cake. Are you pleased with your project as you work on it?

Welcome to our little thread @JMA0920 :welcome: Dan doesn't post on here often, but we always love seeing new people joining us. We are a friendly bunch who talk about anything and everything, so stop by whenever you want.
@ JMA0920 I recently joined this crazy group by accident. I never ventured from the DL Planning board but something just led me here. While I don't post a ton I always follow along and add something here and there. They are an amazing, supportive group! Cheers

Big welcome from me, too, JMA0920. We truly appreciate you posting and welcome you and all here! Dan always a blessing to see you post.

SpaceMan, absolute blessing as well you joined us.

Dear friend Bobbi:hug:thank you for asking and your kind words. I will certainly share what happens with the Dodgers.

Dad's albums, yikes, I need to get a move on compiling! Dad just knows I have one very heavy tote bag and a bursting cubby of birthday surprises for him! Wish you and everyone else, all of you know this, lived closer in general. It would also be fantastic having Quacker help compiling. How about it? :) AuntieMe3 and Luckyrabbit, thinking extra of you! :)

Sweet dreams everyone. I am heading offline now for the night 🌠💕

Good Thursday morning everyone
19 degrees out, going above freezing to 36 today. Winter weather advisory for an inch overnight and 1-3 tomorrow.
Summer's surgery is tomorrow, I thought it was in Morgantown, but it turns out to be at our hospital. I didn't realize that her doctor was local. They told her it was a 1 day thing, that she would be home by tomorrow afternoon or evening.

Since he's laid off temporarily, her husband is home, so he can help out. Between him and the 6 kids there, she shouldn't have to do anything for a couple of days at least. I'm here if she needs something and her mother only lives a minute down the road from me now, so she can help too. Hopefully this will help solve at least one of her medical issues.

I just vacuumed everything, am going to pass the wet jet in the kitchen now, and put a load of laundry in.
The stores were a madhouse yesterday. Walmart's parking lot was almost full, and it wasn't even late morning yet. Aldi's parking lot was full, but there didn't seem to be that many people in the store, which was odd. All 4 of the U Scans were empty when I got to them. Prices are up again, gas went up $.15 a gallon here since last Friday. It didn't take me much to fill up. I added dry gas and hit the air pump to make sure the tires were all at the right pressure. This cold lowers it for some reason.

Have a nice day
