Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Good morning. Going to be another nice, sunny 50 degree day. I'm getting dressed so I can get to the store early this morning and get the rest of my errands done early. Sister in law was at Walmart yesterday early afternoon and said the parking lot was full from one end to the other and it looked like an ant colony with people wandering around the parking lot looking for their cars, lol. I'm hoping when I get back, I'll find the whole trash pile gone. I'm stopping at Sheetz on the way home to get gift cards for the trash men as a thank you. I'll make some cookies also. I watched Big Brother reindeer games last night, it's mindless fun, lol.

My kitten ornament is prominently displayed at the top of the tree in the front. Both so I can see it, and also to keep the newest furbaby from pulling it off the tree. She undecorates at least a part of the bottom unbreakable ones every day.

Have a great Wednesday!

Good morning.:cold:

Cute cat ornament, glad you put it up high and away from the real cat. Mine lays on the floor on their backs and plays with the ornaments hanging at the bottom. Or Carly's tail knocks them off. >:(

I was going to go to the grocery store last night but then I saw that Kroger is offering an extra 5% off for shoppers 55 and older today 💰. I figured I might as well take advantage of this new age I just acquired so I'm headed to the store after work. Got my laundry done last night which I actually needed to get done more than the store.:laundy:

Flipped through Prime Video last night and noticed more episodes of Bosch were released for this season. I think I watched about 4 epidsodes and then switched to NCIS: Sydney. Tonight is Survivor night and the finale of The Amazing Race. I hope I can stay up late enough to watch that instead of recording it. I'm going to need to know who wins!🏆

That's about it, have a great day!

Good morning all!

On here with a covid testing question?

DD had to go for jury duty on Monday and was picked as an alternate juror so also had to go the 2nd day until the trial went to deliberation. This meant being in a crowded situation almost all day. She came home feeling yuchhy yesterday.

She took a test this morning and it's negative.

My question is how soon did people who've tested positive very recently, test positive after feeling sick? @Pea-n-Me

She partially works from home each week and at the office. Home exposure is me, and office exposure is usually no one unless a meeting or other event. Today is the work Xmas party where maybe 15 people would gather. She's not going in, but I have some concern for 'me' as I'm older with all the risk factors.

Up to now I've not contracted anything I remember since 2020. Sometimes I'll feel off but it's short lived and I'm back to normal.

She's staying upstairs and I'm staying down, just in case.

@lynxstch - happy you are enjoying the Cat in the Bag ornament! I figured you would make room for one more cat in your life!

On here with a covid testing question?

So I had Covid about6-8??? weeks ago. I feel a bit off, not great for a few days. But it never developed into a full blown cold or anything. Tested 2 times over the course of those three days just in case, since I have someone in the office who is immunosuppressed (if that is the right word - they take meds to suppress their immune system) and I didn't want to bring anything to her. So I kept going into the office. One gal even brought her baby in one day. Anyhow, on the 3rd day - that night I started to really not feel good and I figured the cold had finally manifested. The next morning I felt like hell warmed over and took another test - that one was positive. At that point my husband and I hadn't been quarantining from each other and kinda figured - right or wrong - that either he was going to get it or not and nothing we could do about it at that point. He ended up not getting it (tested a few times because of the person in the office) and no one else in the office got it. Whew.
Fast forward to this past weekend. Had a employee who tested positive on Saturday, and she was in the office all last week interacting with folks. No one else had gotten it in here.
Keeping my fingers crossed no one else gets it!

Got a busy day today & tomorrow. Got word yesterday that husbands knee surgery has been moved up to this coming Monday - which means this weekend will be busy. Trying to decide if I should do my big grocery shopping this weekend or wait till Monday when I need to kill time waiting for him to be discharged. Gotta get a tree on Sunday and get it up. Need to get some of the supplies he needs for recuperating next week as well. Regardless of when - what needs to get done will get done and whatever doesn't, doesn't! And that is okay!

I tested 3 days after feeling sick. I probably should have tested at 2 days.

Thanks! I'll have her test the next two days and she'll probably stay upstairs anyway as that's where all her stuff is. Our house is not large and I'm going to spray it down with lysol.

Her test this morning was negative. Since it's mid week we also have time to contact our doctor if she does test P by Friday.

I also went ahead and ordered more free covid.gov tests. I already had 4 on hand but we will be down to 1 by Friday after testing the next two days.

@Judique I researched what the time frame was from exposure to symptoms and the average was 3.5 days, but that could also vary. (As a general rule for illness, though, I’ve found that time frame to be pretty accurate over the years, like with my kids getting sick.) I felt a tickle in my throat, then the next day got a headache. (Which is also how Covid started for me the first time I got it.) The day after that, the headache intensified and I felt really off, like I just wanted to lay down, so I tested. I was a little surprised it was positive since I don’t get sick very often. DD and I shared a bed on the second half of our trip and she has been testing negative. I think if you stay separated as much as you can (even across a room and maybe let fresh air in every now and then), don’t share a bathroom if possible and she and/or you can wear a mask, you might be ok if she does have something. I hope so. 🤞

Glad to hear Tom is doing well, Bobbi, and that you’re feeling better. I am, too, but still not great.

We wound up having leftover spaghetti and meatballs last night and they were good. Tonight we’ll do the lemon Greek chicken. We also bought some new olive oil, the kind DH’s Italian grandmother always used (with a big can of it) because I’m not sure if some other oil I bought made it taste funny last time, too. Will have to try that oil out with something else once I get my taste fully back. I’d seen some thing on Instagram about how to buy olive oil, so I bought a different kind than usual. Maybe I’m overthinking it but that last lemon chicken we made had a funny taste, lol. Hopefully it’s good tonight.

I have a lot to do and little energy to do it. I did do my Christmas shopping yesterday, all on Amazon. (Sent my family some things as my SIL-to-be freaked out hearing I had Covid and won’t go to a gathering we’d planned because she’s having surgery right before Christmas and doesn’t want to catch it, so we’ll postpone.) DH’s family decided to do a Yankee Swap after all. I’d previously bought a whole bunch of nice jars of chocolate coated peanuts to put in nice clear wrapping and let everyone take one, but now we’ll do the swap, too. DH also wanted to get some Scottish scarfs with their name and family crest on them for DS and all the nephews with that name, as one is the one who lost his Dad this past fall. He’d gotten three, one for his brother and nephew and DS, but he was able to order a few more. I also got this nephew a book I wanted him to read so we’ll give him those. And I ordered some nice English teas for the hostess.

Wishing everyone a nice Wednesday. 🐥

Thank you for the kitty smile, dear Pea. Prayers you are feeling better!

Dear PollyannaMom, you are a gift of blessing from God to the twins. Thank you always for all the loving care you give them.

Judique dear Quacker and Pea healing, healthy prayers extra to both of you and all in need.

Mercy of God, last night a little better than the one before. One day at a time and all for Him.

XO to all. Lynn and Snowysmom extra:hug:

Good morning everyone.

Hope all of you that are feeling ill are feeling better soon.

@bobbiwoz - Hope your husband is feeling better. My aunt lived in Cape May and when she had heart failure had to be sent to a hospital here in Philly. Wish she would have stayed here but she wanted to head back to Cape May. Her housekeeper managed to get her to change her will and steal everything. Can you tell I still have issues?

I am finished Christmas shopping and almost finished wrapping gifts. Just have a couple small things left and need my mom to pick out the 2 action figures for my cousin's son. The third will be from me. She is raising her sister's kids on her own and has no other family. My aunt passed away a few years ago, her father died when she was a teenager, and her sister has had no contact with them for years. I wanted to get the 2 kids something as I know money is tight for her.

The electrician came out to hang the security camera/motion sensor lights but my grandson neglected to tell me that he has all the wood and framework for the back door in the way. We decided he will come back out when the basement is being redone this winter as the walls are being opened to the studs and I need him to wire the basement anyway. It's not a huge deal and we have the camera and doorbell camera already purchased. I got a great deal at Home Depot on them.

Not much else going on around here. I may be headed to Virginia on Saturday with my parents to see my brother's family. I would finally get to meet the twins who are 2 now, I think. Mom won't know til Friday if dad is up to the trip, and she wants me to go along to help with him. He took a fall down the last 2 steps last week, so he was a little banged up.

Hope everyone has a good day

I've been home for awhile. Walmart was practically empty, it was actually enjoyable shopping. It was quiet, people weren't bumping into each other. Prices are up again, of course.
Aldi's was busier than Walmart was.

I got to the bank and got a new teller who wasn't sure what he was doing and did something that froze up his computer, so I had to wait while they rebooted it and he started all over again.

Went to the little store over the PA line and got a can of crab meat and a few of their specials.

Now I just have to finish putting it all away.

Have a nice afternoon

Thanks, Pea!

Fortunately we don't share a bathroom. I'm going to suggest ordering in for tonight so no communal kitchen time. (I usually sit and maybe sip, while she cooks.) Hopefully she has nothing.

Olive oil - I buy several kinds, mostly Costco Kirkland. Run of the mill (and cheaper) for frying, and the tall, square organic bottle for salads, veggies, etc. Occasionally I'll try something else if I'm shopping elsewhere. I noticed the good stuff seemed to be going down fast and quickly educated DD, lol.

Good chilly morning, 21 outside going to 50 and sunny again.

I caught up on some shows last night. I watched NCIS Sydney, which I'm starting to like more and more, and I watched Survivor, and even though there are others I like less, I was very happy with the ousted player last night. I haven't seen Amazing Race finale yet, but will get to that today, hoping that I can avoid seeing who won in the meantime.

I need to do a load of laundry today, and I want to dust and vacuum.

Still having an issue with the post office. I mailed 2 packages priority mail last Saturday, one to FL and one to CO. The one to FL seems to be stuck somewhere in their system. The other finally made it to CO, and to the right city, as of earlier this morning, but still doesn't show as out for delivery. What's the sense in paying for priority mail when it's no longer priority? The Christmas cards I sent to both people got there yesterday, so first class mail is suddenly faster than priority??

Okay, vent over. Off to get dressed and feed the cats.

Have a great Thursday!

I watched NCIS Sydney, which I'm starting to like more and more
I've been watching the show and I think it's okay. I don't like how they are making the main female character so hard. I guess they decided she needs to be a female version of Gibbs from the original. I don't think it fits. And I don't like how they are making the forensic girl so skittish. I guess she's supposed to be like Abby.

I actually like her. She's giving a little Abby vibe to me also. But I like that she shows her emotions so much. It gives her character a less hard quality than some of the others.

Such a cute Christmasy pooh:picture dear Lynn. Happy Thursday to all! Grace of God, I did sleep better during in between times overnight. Asbolutely that is improving. I now have on clean pajama pants and undies along with one sock (right foot) that of course feels so good. I will dry shampoo my hair later. All encouraging and positive. As I have said one day, one step, all by His incredible love. My thanks and love of course always to each of you.

I did do my Christmas shopping yesterday
I am finished Christmas shopping and almost finished wrapping gifts

We are only doing stockings this year, and I'm a buy it and toss it in the back of the closet kinda person. I've picked up some stocking stuffers but honestly - I've got no idea of what is in there! I need to do inventory this weekend and on Monday morning finish up.
I don't think I even have any wrapping paper. God knows what the selection is at this point a week from Christmas (I'm a little picky about my wrapping paper  I was even in a Hallmark store last weekend but didn't get any, I should have ) so maybe I'll just go with tissue paper this year.
I may be headed to Virginia on Saturday with my parents to see my brother's family. I would finally get to meet the twins who are 2 now
I hope your trip works out and you & your folks have a pleasant drive down.
feed the cats
I'm kinda bummed. We figured our barn cats moved on to greener pastures so-to-speak, and we've all but confirmed that. None of their cat food has been touched for the last 4-6 weeks. I did see one of them recently down by the groundhog hangout, so I'm guessing he decamped to the neighbors barn. I'm going to wait till the spring and get some more from the barn cat folks, I hate to do it in winter.

Long day, been in the office since 6:45 or so. I'm also going thru a terrible insomnia jag that is the worst it's even been. Two Dr. appt's tomorrow afternoon. One regular Dr., the other the acupuncturist. Then eldest & fiance hosting a Christmas get together on Saturday afternoon. Plus we need to get a Christmas Tree and it's going to be pouring on Sunday so we need to get that before the rain so we don't have soaking wet tree up in the house. Maybe Saturday prior to going to eldest's we will grab one. I am just so exhausted. Beyond tired. I need to get some sleep and soon. Quality sleep.
Next week will go in a flash. Husband has surgery on his knee Monday, he'll be down & out from that for a good week or two, so I'll be going back and forth from the office to home to see to him. Nail appt. on Wednesday evening. On the road most all of Thursday -husband will have to hobble to the bathroom on his own - Friday should be a quiet day in the office, and I'm hosting a lunch too. I'm looking forward to a week or so of doing nothing over the coming holidays.
No idea what's for dinner this evening.
Didn't make the effort to watch any Christmas movies last night, perhaps tonight we will.

I was in the office today. It is nice to see everyone but I could do without the drive. It wasn't too bad today anyway. Going back to the condo is definitely busier. Kenny asked me over for dinner tonight and I am not saying no to that. Tomorrow I am off work but have an early Doctor's appt about 45 minutes away. I like this doctor so I am not changing. Plus I can see myself moving back to the area in a few years when I feel that I can be there again. I am nervous about the visit as usual but am trying to keep calm. Saturday night I am staying at Jeff's to watch the kiddos while they go out. It is cold here, around 34. It is supposed to get warmer and rainy over the weekend. I cringe when I hear rain.

Christmas shopping is done and mostly wrapped. Just a few more items to go.

Have a nice evening.

It sounds like we’re kindred spirits on the gift front then, lol. I only bought stocking stuffers, too. I had to buy some small gifts for a Yankee Swap the family is having. They’re all still in bags in the living room. I figure if they’re there, I have to do something about them, haha.

I ventured out a bit yesterday and today. Wasn’t able to do much. Still winded, I know I still have cement-guck in my lungs and it’s not going anywhere. Figure it’s good to try to move around, but it’s not easy.

Good luck with your doctor’s appt, Snowysmom.

DH is making the lemon Greek chicken now, with roasted potatoes and green beans with garlic and cranberries. Yesterday we were out a little too late to get it started.

I hope everyone enjoys their Thursday evening! 🐥
