Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

This week I'll be busy getting ready for our trip to Nashville. We leave Saturday.
Can't wait to hear all about it!
all went very well at the dentist. I'm very glad the filling is taken care of and behind me. An added blessing is having had this done, I feel more comfortable with Dr. E. On our way to Dr. E's office, dad and I stopped by church to drop off our food pantry donation. I got to see Gabriela for the first time in 3 years.
So glad your dental visit went well and that you got to see your friend!
I am feeling like the grandkids now so trying to take it easy. It was inevitable as all 6 are or have been sick in the last week.
We've had a virus in our home too. Lil Joe was sick for five days, then me for just 24 hours and Carol the same. As of right now, Lou Lou nor Papaw have been sick.
Which leads me to a QOTD - I felt a little guilty about the plastic take-out containers. Do any of you have places you go that let you bring your own? Do you think restaurants should start doing that?
I've never eaten at a restaurant that let you bring your own containers.
Finished a puzzle today
Cute puzzle!

Frog, I am so happy for you, that you have gotten past your first big hurdle and came out on the other side with things in your favor. Your ex is as big of piece of work as Carol's. As with you, summer visitation is going to be a chore to get through but you will and be all the better for it. He, on the other hand, will still be the same old miserable person that he has always been.

I came home from the grocery store yesterday evening to a bunch of pin wheels and a couple of pink flamingos in my flower beds out front. Carol had taken the kids to Dollar Tree and they had a blast decorating.

@bobbiwoz Glad you are feeling better. I love the cardinal puzzle. I do not have the patience for puzzles but love to see what others do. I was out walking yesterday and heard a cardinal calling. I hear them calling alot but usually I cannot see them as they hide in the big pine trees. This time I looked up and there he was, high in the tree on the edge of a branch, a beautiful splash of red. It just soothes my soul as I know it is a sign from Chris. He loved cardinals. I attached a picture which isn't great. If you click on it you can see a splash of red at the top of the tree.

@Kirby The grandkids did a wonderful job of decorating your yard. So cute.

@flyingdumbo127 Prices have gotten ridiculous with so many items. The prices go up but I don't see them coming down. Our Market Basket supermarket chain has the best prices in the area. I am thankful they built a couple of stores in the area I am moving to. One is just 5 minutes from my new condo. Kenny and I and the kids when he has them go on Friday night to shop. I do go to Hannafords now and then for sale items and Wegmans sometimes. Wegmans is pricy with some items so you have to pick and choose. Who would have thought sponges would be priced so high.

It is a rainy dreary day. I will be going to see Jeff and the kids this morning. I hope the rain does not get bad while I am on the highway. I missed seeing the grandkids last weekend so really need to see them today. I had a videochat with them on Friday but not the same thing as a visit. I want to see Sam walking.

Have a good Sunday.

@Snowysmom, I definitely see the cardinal in that picture! Its a good one!

Good morning and Happy Sunday to all. We’ll be going on line to Mass, probably at 9 AM, since Tom is still sleeping. Gus just walked into my reading room, and immediately he plopped down to sleep. He got us up twice last night to be taken out.

We have some garden work to do today.

I wish you all a great day!

Good morning all. Bit dreary here today with rain forecasted.

This has been a week of ups and downs. Anthony's team is awful, but he has been playing great. He stole home yesterday which brought a huge smile to his face. Just 1 of 4 runs for the team. They have no pitching and are playing against older teams so it's discouraging at times, but he is playing and happy.

I had a call from my daughter from another mother on Thursday. Her husband was hospitalized Wednesday with kidney failure and congestive heart failure. He has been having kidney issues, diabetes is such a silent and horrific disease, The issue this time appears to have been his thyroid numbers being really off. He is home but she is having a really hard time, so afraid that she will lose him. They are only in their 30's so way too young to have to worry about that.

It brought back memories that I try to not think about. 6 years ago, on Friday Jim went in for his foot surgery. Yesterday was the 17th anniversary of the car accident my daughter and son-in-law were in that sent my daughter into premature labor.

Six years ago today, I got the phone calls that forever changed our lives - Jim had suffered a significant stroke. While trying to keep things normal for the kids and get them to church, I was in severe panic mode. I suspected but did not know for sure what had happened. The past 6 years have been a roller coaster of emotions but while things are different, we move on. The ray of sunshine in all of the cloud of darkness is that Jim is enjoying watching Anthony play baseball. He never got to see pour oldest grandson's games as he was always working. He is enjoying this so much and Anthony is so happy to have him there. Anthony may be a moody teenager at times, but I have seen him actually look to make sure his Poppy is there.

On a really happy note today my handsome, quirky and huge hearted grandson Michael came into our lives. My Mikey is 17 today and I wonder where the time has gone. I told him he has to go to church today as we are having a cake for him and my dad. My dad will be 87 years old on Tuesday.

I am trying to find the bright spots in life and not dwell on the negative. I have been inspired by my husband's cousin. She has Metastatic Breast Cancer, but she is a fighter. She lost her sister and her husband to metastatic cancer within the last 3 years and her father to the same disease about 10 years ago. She knows that this disease will take her at some point, there is usually less than a 5-year survival rate, but she keeps a smile on her face, races funds for research and finds joy in each day. She truly is an inspiration. She even posted something from a devotional she reads the other day that I shared with my daughter from another mother. It helped her see a bright spot and calm down.

Well I am off to finish my coffee and get ready for the long day ahead. Have to get dinner in the crockpot and I really wish I had bought a case of that Marsala sauce, every Aldi around here has been out of it. Then off to get Mikey and a cake for Church. Have to take my dad home after church, drop off Mikey, take Crystal to work (she is only working special events at the track but it's a job), pick up Ella and her friend and get them to Volleyball Camp (it's in NJ so I will get gas there as it's 40 cents a gallon cheaper - Bright Spot), drop Ella and her friend home, come home to get dinner, then have to go back and get Ella as she has 2 Volleyball Games at the Rec Center she joined. Tomorrow we are finally getting Crystal's Social Security Card and ID so she can get on a plane.

Hope you all have a nice day.

Good morning. Not calling for rain, but it's gray looking outside. Temps only going to mid 50's today. It must have rained overnight, because the grass is all wet. I wanted to do yard work while it was cool, but it's not going to happen unless it dries out quickly. Oh well, I'll get another day of being able to relax a bit. I just didn't feel like doing much yesterday.

@tazdev3225 This weekend brings back a lot of memories for you. Sorry some of them are not the best kind to remember. But you have a birthday celebration today to look forward to. You and Jim are still enjoying life, despite his health, so that's something to treasure. We are all thinking of you.
@flyingdumbo127 Cute puzzle Mona, it made me crave some ice cream.

@Snowysmom I can see the cardinal too. Chris is always there with you, showing you with signs. Makes me happy for you.

Have a great day everyone

Hello everyone! Got some skimming posts done, and now my timer is going off so I have to run to the basement to put the load in the dryer.

Sunny and wet from overnight here but that shouldn't last long.

Have a great day, everyone!

:wave:Good Morning dear friends,

I'm so grateful to God to read of happier Quacker family updates. Kirby, I love your yard, so cute. Dad and I have a pink flamingo from Dollar Tree, too. The 🍨 🧩does look cool and refreshing, doesn't it? :) Dad is shortly off to Pavilions 🛒This particular Pavilions has a Coinstar Machine in an area sort of by itself which is so very handy especially right now. Dad will be cashing in 🪙's for an Amazon E gift card. Extra money that way is such a blessing. CVS is very close by so he will stop in their first to look for 🧽Sprouts for 🍎sauce and other things on his way 🏠Quiet morning otherwise. As always, I'm looking forward to watching Sunday worship. Extra :hug:Carol, thinking of you!

Always good to see a post from you, Kirby. 🙏for healthy family! Thank you on the dentist and for your kind words to our friend Frog.

PollyannaMom, 🐈in your lap and enjoying a 📱game perhaps I hope is a cozy Sunday start for you, my friend. Enjoy a quieter day!

Beautiful 🌳and cardinal🐦Snowysmom, I definitely saw it also, thanks for sharing with us :) The 18 boxes of Kleenex we got from Amazon yesterday today costs almost $60! We paid for what was for us a ton of money at about $33 including tax but compared to $60 that was a bargain! I'm so glad that you have good shopping options. I do still also like the Market Basket name, fun name for a store.:grouphug:my friend and I pray this Sunday weather aside has you feeling even a little lighter of spirit knowing you are done with your old condo paperwork wise. :lovestrucBaby Sam. Safe travels to you and have fun with your grandkids!

Bobbiwoz, I love that you have a reading room 📚 that sounds so peaceful and a wonderful place to just retreat which, of course, I pray it is. Gus:dogdance:🙏always and forever for you and Tom! I hope all of you enjoy a better night's sleep tonight 🛌

Extra big :grouphug:🐣💕dear Taz, ITA with Lynn and Bobbiwoz. YOU are such a kind light! You know we all, always, wish you only JOY. :bday:to Mikey! Enjoy celebrating and please remember we all care!

:donald:Cheer, Lynn to read you are intending to relax today! Watching something fun on📺and treat yourself to some much-needed R&R! What a beautiful picture! Makes me want to go visit ::MickeyMo

Wishing all of you a lovely Sunday, I will check back in later.

After having the cleaner come by and do my kitchen, I started to notice little things more. Not on her, she did a great job and more work than I expected.

Today I got out a screwdriver set and opened up my oven door. There was a drip between the glass that had been bothering me for ages, that I never got to because I concentrated on doing the bare minimum to get me out and away from kitchen duties. In fact, cleaner had asked about the drip and I told them not to bother.

It was easy to do. Two screws and I was between the two sets of glass, both of which were held securely so no big job.

Got some glass cleaner and a few swipes and it was done. Did not realize it would be so easy or it would have gotten done long ago.

:cheer2:always, Judique for a job gone easier than expected! :)

I am enjoying online worship this morning. Carol, and everyone else, I love how as part of today's service for Earth Day, 🌸seeds will be given out at the conclusion of worship by the minister and his wife. The Risen Christ was one of the hymns sung today that was new to me. Some of you might enjoy it. I love the scenery that go along with the lyrics. Reminder to me that God created and loves us all, all creatures great and small. Praise be to Him in and for all! I always thank Him, for all of you, too :)

Prices have gotten ridiculous with so many items.

I attached a picture which isn't great. If you click on it you can see a splash of red at the top of the tree.
Beautiful red against the green of the tree. My mom loved Cardinals. She also loved Robins. Used to leave them grapes out on her back porch. They used to wait on her to bring them out. One year she had a pair of Robins that hung around all year instead of migrating.
They are only in their 30's so way too young to have to worry about that.
Those in their 30's should not have to be contemplating their own mortality, they should be living their life to the fullest but that's not the way life is. Praying for them.
I am trying to find the bright spots in life and not dwell on the negative.

It's a cold, rainy day, temps in the 50's which is unusual for us at this time of year. Was 49 when we left for church.

Carol went to the grocery store after church, picked up some seaweed paper (I guess that's what its called) to try and make some sushi. Lou Lou loves seaweed, ate half a sheet of it. I tried a piece of it, let's say it's not something I really want to eat much of. Lou Lou says that it tastes like the ocean but since she's never been...........

I picked up an 18 count carton of large eggs at Krogers Friday night for $1.99 with an e-coupon. They were regularly priced at $2.99. The price of eggs has really gone down here.

Just a quick hello while I sit in my car waiting for Ella. Her camp is to far to just go back home. I did have an interesting and funny conversation with her while she tried to convince me to give her money to buy a car in about 2 years when she turns 16. That will not be happening. Lol

Thought I'd share a picture of the birthday boys from after church. We had a cake for them.PXL_20230423_154635358.jpg

Mikey and his Big Pop.

Have a great afternoon

We got a wonderful surprise in the mail (that was supposed to come yesterday and maybe it did just LATE) today. Dad's last car:car: before his current Fit which he loves, was a 2009 Corolla that was part of all the recalls. This car seemed to have some issue often. He must have filled out all those years ago, an airbag recall rebate form because we got a check today! Very thankful indeed and absolutely an extra Sunday gratitude. He also did cash in our Coinstar coins. 🧽:cheer2:thanks to CVS. He got two packages of CVS Total Home (their Store Brand) of Sponges which to us look identical to O-Cello which overall the last several months haven't lasted as long perhaps because quality of them has gone down, I don't know. We had a $4 CVS savings to redeem so that made the two 4 packs a great deal. He got two because the sponges are buy 1, get 1 half off, Sponge savings alert to all! LOL, never thought I'd be sharing that! :)

Lou Lou can eat seaweed for me, too, Kirby, yuck! Glad she enjoys it though :) Great deal you got on 🥚Dad will be getting them from Ralph's tomorrow for $3.49 with a digital e-coupon. We only get a dozen eggs though. I didn't see a $1.99 offer but 18 would be a lot for us to go through before they would expire. I'm glad you were able to grab that great deal for your family. I do remember when eggs were $5.99 at Ralph's! Please do stay warm and well:grouphug:

Beautiful picture, dear Taz! What a blessing for Mikey and his grandpa to get to celebrate together. :cake:🎈

Have a great rest of the afternoon everyone. I hope your Sunday has been peaceful.

Good morning. Cloudy day here so far. It is supposed to brighten up and get into the 50s.

It was nice to see the grandkids yesterday. We played board games. Sam is teething and not a happy camper. He was up during the night so he napped the whole time I was there. I just got to say hi, get a small smile from him, and he was off to sleep.

I am off to work. Have a good day.

Good morning, sunny out, but it was 34 this morning. Freeze warning for tonight. Temps getting to upper 50's both days. No rain in sight, yet.

I had to call the plumber again this morning. Same issue with the kitchen sink as last time, but now it's worse. It's been draining really slow since Friday, and now if I run the water for 30 seconds, water comes up in both sinks. I plunge it and it goes down, and then I run water again, and up it comes. She said they will be here shortly. She might send 2 guys, 1 to work on the pipes up here that go down under the sink and into the cellar, and another to work on the clean out pipe again. I think it's most likely in the pipe under the sink, below the floor level. She said maybe the issue is in the main. I said if that were the case, we would be having issues with the other sinks, commode, tub, and washer, and we aren't. So it's not the main. Nothing but water has gone down it, so how can there be a clog somewhere? I'm very careful about that. Oil and grease never go down the drain. At least I know they won't be charging me a full service call , so that's something. If they don't fix the problem, I won't even be paying that.

I wanted to do yard work today, but have to wait for grass to dry and plumber to come.

@Kirby, I have to say yuck to the seaweed paper too, not my thing. Glad Lou Lou likes it.

Have a great day

Good Morning:grouphug:

What a quiet thread we have so far today. 🙏this means those of you who have yet to post are either catching extra 💤or busy in some positive, happy way. Cooler morning here. Dad is doing laundry along with Ralphs and a couple other errands today so God willing he really will stay home tomorrow. This is a busier week for him and I want to be sure he does stay home one weekday.

:hug:Snowysmom and feeling better prayers, of course, to Sam!

:hug:Lynn and indeed plumbing prayers! You know I love your ::MickeyMomorning image. It speaks perfectly of the kind, faith, and joy you and all of our Quacker family bring to us all :)

All is quiet around here. I will check back in later. Wishing all of dear you a wonderful and warm last week of April.

Good morning! I had things I wanted to respond to, not sure I can remember all of them now. It’s taken me since yesterday to catch up on this thread. I like to read everything! I’m not a fan of the quoting system here. You can’t pick and choose, and I sometimes have quotes from various threads. If you have to quote just one, you lose the others.

Anyway @flyingdumbo127 Yes I think it’s a good idea to start venturing out, however you’re comfortable. When I go out I still see people wearing masks here and there. No one cares. If that makes you more comfortable, do it! I think you are fairly safe in a big store from a respiratory standpoint (inhaling covid, studies showed you had to be in an enclosed room for 15 mins with someone coughing in order to get it) just cleanse your hands frequently and don’t touch your face. That’s my strategy and the only time I’ve gotten Covid was when DS brought it home to all of us in the household.

@easyas123 Just wanted to mention you can walk from OKW to DS but only during the daytime. The walkway is closed at night, because it runs along a river and would be potentially hazardous in the dark. DH and I took bikes along that path one morning and it was a really nice ride, but kind of long, even on bikes (though we did see a few people walking it) and super hot. It winds through a golf course and then you have to figure out once you get to Saratoga Springs where to go from there. Fortunately we had stayed at SS before and knew how to go, there were no signs. (Although the night we arrived for our stay at SS we tried to walk to DS and got totally lost in the resort so gave up, lol.) The easiest way will be to take the boat! But sounds lovely, we love it there. It’s so nice you can host your son’s wedding on your farm! I’m with you on the garden, too, last year ours was a bust. Been busy this year, not sure we’ll get to one, but if not, no big deal.

@lynxstch Glad you made a decision on the roof!

@tazdev3225 Sorry to hear about your daughter’s husband. It is so sad getting that sick so young. We see people in their late teens and 20s with the same things, as well. Always hard for everyone. Glad your husband is still with us, too.

Nice to see @frog3101 glad things are mostly settled. Glad @bobbiwoz is feeling better and that @Snowysmom is almost done with the condo. Thinking of all here and keeping you all in my prayers.

We had a busy weekend. Had a yard sale and got rid of some big items which we were so happy about. Mobilized a lot of things in the house and shed. Didn’t make a ton of money but that wasn’t our goal; we priced to sell and even gave some things away, lol. DH still has a car full that we have to take to the dump. We are off this week so he and DS are continuing with their project. A friend of ours came for breakfast yesterday he is a carpenter and gave us some good advice and offered to help if we need it, which was great. (He came to see the fishing rods we had for sale, lol.)

The good news, I think I mentioned here I was seeing an ophthalmologist (MD who specializes in eyes) for the styes I continue to get. The doctor I’d seen twice before had been zero help (an optometrist, who is at my medical practice). Had a good visit with the opthalmologist and geez, what an eye exam I got! But better yet, she was able to give me several new treatment options and one has already helped just after one application! The other are some drops they won’t be ready until today but I am anxious to get them started. I’m kind of irritated that the other guy did nothing for me but maybe it’s my own fault, I probably should’ve gone to Mass Eye and Ear sooner. The hell I’ve been through with these and I begged him for help. Nada. I had already decided never going back to him. And going to speak to my primary care doc about it. Btw I have 20/20 vision with no glasses which they always marvel at for my age. One eye is a little off right now because it is still inflamed, but it’s generally 20/20, too. (DD was laughing because she was right up by the letters and couldn’t see them, she wears glasses all the time.) I have follow up in a few weeks so I’m sure they’ll retest.

Well have to hop in the shower and run some errands when they’re done. I hope everyone has a good Monday! 🐥
